Physics upgrades

Last quarter, I touched on our multi-year roadmap to overhaul iRacing’s physics engine architecture. Today, the first major milestone of that effort is officially complete and shipping for Season 4.

We have refactored and multi-threaded the core physics update loop, an internal initiative we call ‘Physics Islands.’ By slicing the physics workload and parallelizing the end of the physics tick, calculations are now distributed cleanly across available CPU threads. While single-car test sessions will feel as crisp as ever, the gains in heavy traffic are massive: in full-field races, crowded multi-car battles, and large AI grids, CPU physics overhead drops by 50% or more across a wide range of hardware.

Beyond immediate frame stability and performance headroom, this architecture shift is a critical building block. It unlocks the technical runway needed for upcoming phases, where we will raise physics tick rates, tighten input sampling, and accelerate force feedback update loops.

Okay so I looked it up and it definitely counts as a fireball! They just need to have a visible tail and have a bigger apparent magnitude than -3/Venus Unfortunately didn't get it on video but have my live reaction + an example I found that feels like the right speed and intensity.

The frequency graph wasn't lying with that dropoff tho, I'm seeing a lot less already. Been watching for almost 2h (compared to 2.5-3h last night) and have less than half. I got a faint but suuuuuuuper long one tho which was really cool! Lasted like 5 seconds, must have been skimming the atmosphere

7 confirmed meteors caught so far, against last night's 22 confirmed and a few more that were like "did I see that right?"

So I'm back on Virtual DJ, Engine is too limited especially in the browser where you can't select what it shows so half the space is wasted by a waveform instead of useful tags. Engine Desktop is also pretty terrible so I'd need to spend 360€ on Lexicon and even that solution isn't perfect. But the

Change of plans, I'm not feeling music today. Just bought Space Haven instead which I've never played or watched before last night so I'll be trying it out! Saw it pop up on Steam for a while but always dismissed it because the thumbnail made me think it was a narrative action game or something...

Update: Holy shit. It passed over us and it's the strongest storm I've witnessed in person, nonstop flashing and stuff flew everywhere including a big branch that I saw gliding down a few houses. It looks like it's gonna avoid Spa though, weather stays clear over there for now.

A mesoscale system over Belgium forming a bow echo due to the strong winds pushing inside.
It's currently heading towards the Netherlands.

⬛ OFFLINE ⬛ #Paralives has quite a few rough edges, the performance isn't amazing, but I already love it so much! Here's me and my 2 friends Sofia and Shania! (most of the stream was me building my little 2 story home) I'll be playing more on Thursday!

A blonde non-binary lil guy. He has shoulder-length blonde hair with straight cut bangs. He's wearing a denim jacket over a white crop top, brown shorts and shoes.

Sofia. She works as a nurse, I met her after fulfilling a request from her on the notice board. She has tan skin, black hair in a ponytail with bangs. She's wearing a lavender top. (I'm not into clothes so I don't know what style) and pale blue jeans.

Shania. The first person I met.
I was at the beach building sandcastles when I suddenly got the need to talk to another human. (crazy, I know)
She was the closest and we got along!

She has brown skin and brown hair styled in an afro (? Just like with clothes, I'm not into haircuts lol)
She wears a white top and a long yellow dress with flowers. Also glasses.

My little home. It has light grey stone walls, wooden windows with blue shutters and a blue door. It's set in between 2 buildings on the smallest plot I could find, the walls are wonky and it was hard to build at times, but I like it. Roofs aren't very good yet so I kept the bare floor and gave it dark grey carpet to look like a bitumen roof.
