We still take the NC state "Gazetteer" book of maps when we go to the mountains because the cell signal is iffy and roads can be unexpectedly closed. I'm pretty good at reading maps but if road signs are missing, navigating can be like solving a puzzle.

I have a momma spider with an egg case on my marigolds. She seems very agile and moves it under the flower to get out of the sun or rain, but I hope she has a plan when the flowers die.

Triangle-area friends: I'm looking to re-home this precious stray dog. Dolly is a 2 yr old pit mix, sweet as can be, with a heaping helping of separation anxiety. Needs TLC and someone who is home with her. (No advice, please, I promise I'm doing all the other things for this pup.)

I think a lot about the writing in academic papers, with so little of it being written in plain language or as clearly as possible, and how that's going to get worse. As an aside, at first glance, I thought this piece was about purple and green curly kale.
