in general, like @trezy.codes already said, you get pretty far as an average user. We just launched, so we're still watching how storage fills up in practice. once we see how things evolve, we allocate more and rather give you extra space once we know how to plan than overprice it.

Appreciate it, we'll definitely come back to that! This could be a thing. reworked the post to strike the wrong claims and lean a bit more into what we actually meant: migration isn't that painful, it just feels that way. And that's a UX problem. Credited you in it, thanks again for the details!

doesn't that blob disadvantage mostly go away for us on inbound? We run the destination PDS, so we can set the bypass IP, same as eurosky/blacksky. Owning the PDS feels like the one case where it helps. Outbound to a PDS we don't control is another matter. Are we missing something? @pds.dad

and we're still in progress of building the migration feature, so good timing to overthink stuff. For now we'll fix the inaccurate bits in the article. Seems our read on MOOver was really out of date D:
One thing we're chewing on though:

Thanks Bailey! thats exactly the sort of correction we need. Last thing we want is to spread misinformation or talk down other tools.
We'd completely overlooked the single-IP blob funnel until now. That's a real problem once several people migrate A to B at the same time [...]

We needed PDS infrastructure for @eny.social, so we built managed, "one-click" hosting. Now you can use it too. AT Protocol account management still lives in a terminal. Our first post on getting it into a browser and the migration hiccup that kicked it off: eny.space/blog/putting...
