Oh, hey, thank you for 200 follows. 🎉 ...admittedly probably partially bloated by mass follows and such, but I'm happy that at least 3/4 of that number have liked my writing that much. Might have a thing for this like the last time, but probably won't be for a few weeks at least due to irl stuff.

57. Girl Slaves of Morgana Le Fay (1971) Very cheap film with dreamlike aesthetics, though which does not justify all of the dead air in it imo. An actual dilapidated castle as the setting does help. Most of the people I'd rec this film to would be screaming their lungs out over the MC though lmao

Okay this does check out. Any kind of proclivity towards learning leads to being a wizard in a lot of these, and I can get very anal about rules (as long as they seem reasonable).

56. Girl's Blood (2014) I'm so fucking conflicted on this one. Fights are good and have nice impact to them, fanservice feels very skeewy and kind of unnecessary often. The main drama plot sucks. Props for having a textually transmac character I guess, even if the portrayal feels real confused.

55. The Tin Drum (1979) One of those ones which I do recognize to be a good movie but which isn't quite for me. Did start to feel a bit aimless at times during the almost 3 hour runtime. Kind of an amazing performance by David Bennent though.

54. X-Cross (2007) Best adaptation of a survival horror game that doesn't exist. (Like actually, the movie has a zapping system) The movie's dumb as all hell but in a fun way. Did not expect the main character conflict to go the way it did, but good for them. Justice for Reika.

Found a grid like this for favorite Granblue characters, and since it has been a slow afternoon decided to fill it out (after recreating the template due to not having a clean one available). About half of these should not come as a surprise to anyone who's been reading the interactive.

They're both mentor figures, with the difference that Touko actually sticks around, yeah. Pondering between those two works is also a funny dichotomy, since you get to choose between Shiki (male) and Shiki (female) to experience your early Nasu edge with. (Though both are ultimately good)

53. Iron Lung (2026) Funnily enough, thanks to Obsession, this is not the best Youtuber-made horror movie I've seen from this year. Overall I do think that the movie is good for its circumstances, even if I especially found the main man's performance a little lacking (though by no means awful).

Added a starting chapter for what is Pecorine's first story branch. It's mostly setup, though it's very... detailed, so it might still appeal to some people. Partial tags: #vore #objectvore collaberotica.org/stories/184-...

52. Baby Assassins 2 (2023) It's been a bit since I saw the first one, but it did feel like this leaned even more towards the comedy aspect of the films. It's peak though, I love how silly both of the duos are written, and how raw and/or awkward the fights can get.

51. The Quiet Earth (1985) So while I'm ultimately positive on this movie as like an interesting take on the whole "seemingly last person on Earth" sci-fi premise, it felt like the film threatened to make itself shit every 30 mins before swerving back on the road (though the 1st one's still bad).

50. The Conformist (1970) I'mma be real, I wasn't familiar with this movie's reputation before starting to watch this. Was completely caught off-guard by how gorgeous the shot composition was in basically every scene. Film's overall amazingly constructed. Maybe the best one I've seen this year.

49. The Clan's Heir is a Trans Woman (2013) A bit messy low-budget yakuza drama which does ultimately come from a good place. The plot's very basic, but I did like its angle of social outcasts bonding with one another. I also have no idea how to feel about the climax, but it's certainly memorable.

48. Masters of the Universe (2026) The action scenes rock, the humor (for the most part) doesn't. Act 1's angle is fun on paper, but kinda falls flat as far as the story/character arc is concerned. And most unfortunate of all, Skeletor IS the best character in the film, and it's not even close.

47. Underworld (2003) These must be one of the most boring vampires I've seen in a movie. The werewolves aren't much better, but at least I can tell that they're werewolves when they're doing stuff. ...I don't think I even have more to say about this one, actually. Not a good sign.

46. F for Fake (1973) This movie is often brought up when talking about movie editing, so the bar was set pretty high. The movie did meet that bar. I fuck with the kind of very deliberately disruptive in style it's going for. Also funny that it just stops sometimes so that Welles can aurafarm.

45. The Raven's Dance (Korpinpolska, 1980) Part nature documentary and part very slow drama film about a family living in backwoods. I'll be real, this one wasn't for me. It's not a bad film. The nature imagery was good and I get its point, but the movies of this style rarely hit for me.
The Finnish poster for Raven's Dance.

The poster depicts birds settled on top of chimneys of a house. One of them is flying at forefront and is depicted as flying beyond the bounds of the poster. Next to it is an egg that's been shattered on pavement.

The text beyond the title says: "Värielokuva KORPINPOLSKA on laulu ihmisestä, luonnosta ja sivilisaatiosta."

The text is Finnish and would roughly translate to English as: "The colored film RAVEN'S DANCE is a song about humans, nature, and civilization."

44. Solaris (1972) "Unlike 2001, this one is about the people." - Andrei Tarkovski, probably Also my first film by him. I did like this one too, but it felt slightly long (though maybe the shot length had something to do with the feeling). Both very pretty and (positively) bare at the same time.

43. 2001 - Space Odyssey (1968) Pretty good. More elaborately: I very much understand the reputation now. The only reason I was able to tell that this came out at around 1970s-ish and not later was the sound quality. As far as filmmaking technique goes, it's super impressive, even to this day.

42. Opera (1987) This came very close to being my favorite Dario Argento film, if not for it managing to be really baffling at times even by Argento's standards (despite being relatively "grounded"). Loved the POV shots and camera usage in general. I hope they didn't actually hurt those ravens.
Cover for the movie Opera (1987)

Depicts the main character Betty (Christina Marsillach) with a face shot against a black background. She is gagged with tape and tied up with rope. Sets of sewing needles have been taped under her eyes to prevent her from blinking without hurting herself, which has been demonstrated by a trail of blood coming down her right eye. She is visibly distressed.

41.5. Beyond Generations tries its best to outdo dumb time travel plots found in Kamen Rider crossover movies. Seeing the Saber cast again was nice though, even if they weren't the focus. Battle Familia was actually pretty decent though, despite of the asspulls. The final fight kicked ass.

41. Kamen Rider Revice (2021) Hooo boy. This whole series was a cycle of "it's so over --> we're so back", with "we're so back" being the show being kind of ok. Cool choreography despite heavy effects and a lot of good ideas with horrible execution. Though it's still better than Wizard.

40. Project Avalanche (2016) While I'm normally not into the subject matter being used in fiction due to all the crazies out there, this was still an excellent mockumentary. At least on a quick glance there's a lot of thought put behind internal logic and tech. And that one car scene was insane.

39. The Stranger by the Shore (Umibe no Étranger, 2020) Out of the two anime movies about gay guys I've watched this year, this was definitely more frustrating out of the two due to how the melodrama played out (though I get why, and it's still good). Shoutout to actually going for a sex scene.

38. The Last Border (1993) Finland's answer to Mad Max by the older Kaurismäki brother, only with tundra instead of desert. Oddly enough not complete garbage? It's bad, but in a way that I find foreign B-movies bad, which bad Finnish movies don't evoke in me. Also, why is Jürgen Prochnow here?

37. Classmates (2016) Damn, these bitches gay. A very basic yet solid romance high school romance story imo, though the lively animation and comedy beats do elevate it a great deal. I also do wonder if anime studios specifically seek out Kamiya Hiroshi if they need to cast for a motormouth.

36. Tekken (2010) FWIW, better than the 1994 Street Fighter. Like it still makes so, so many baffling decisions in how it adapts elements from the games, and it's certainly not good, but at least there IS good action in this one. The biggest crime still goes to Kazuya's beard.

35. Belladonna of Sadness (1973) Visually a very beautiful movie. Makes use of still images a great deal, but I assume it's to preserve the detail of the watercolor art it uses, so didn't mind it too much. The amount and way in which the movie wallows in Jeanne's suffering is a bit much, though.

34. Obsession (2026) I liked this. A solid horror movie that goes to appropriate lengths to make the scenario unsettling/uncomfortable even to someone like me who has read a lot of... different kind of fiction dealing with love and obsession. Inde Navarrette absolutely killed it in her role.

33. The Phantom (1996) Technically a rewatch, but I only retained exactly one scene from when I watched this as a kid. Aside from the character's premise being inherently problematic, this was still an oddly charming pulp adventure film imo. Shame that they never made the trilogy.

32. R100 (2013) I have MANY thoughts about this one, and most of them aren't positive. Like I know that the film's ostensibly a surreal cringe comedy, but the way it did it didn't work for me, nor did its usage of BDSM for the theme that I think(?) it was trying to convey. Also the vore sucked.

31. Marked (1984) A much more obscure Finnish horror film from the 80s. Somehow manages to be Finland's answer to Carnival of Souls a few years BEFORE it became a cult movie. It's not good, but has interesting visuals for a TV movie due to utilizing fun theatre staging for MC's visions.

30. Hanagatami (2017) 2nd Obayashi film I've watched, and I really should get on more of them. I love how aggressively stylized they've been so far. Really interesting. Kinda exhausting due to length (though the pacing does work for it imo), but ultimately I have only a few gripes with it.

29. The Moonlight Sonata (1988) This is likely the closest thing to an old-fashioned B-horror I've seen to come out of Finland. It's lacking in a lot of places, but I fuck with the vibes a lot. The antagonist's actor also deservedly won an award for his performance. Must have been having a blast.

28. mother! (2017) It's been a while since a movie has made me feel actual irl anxiety. Feeling very mixed. The film's very well made, and I like a lot of the individual aspects, but the more I think about it as a whole, its themes, and how it goes about expressing them, the more down on it I get.

27. The Devil-Doll (1936) ...I watched this one because it's about shrinking people, how did it turn out to be like an actually decent film? Like it's ultimately a nice little revenge drama driven by a very "silly" scifi plot device, without skimping out on effects to sell the shrunken down scale.

26. Hard Boiled (1992) The whole movie I was dying to know how on earth we're gonna get to that poster. Surprised about this being rated as John Woo's best film on online sites, since while the action has gone up a notch in quality, it felt weaker as an overall movie compared to A Better Tomorrow.

25. The Great Dictator (1940) Contextually interesting movie in a lot of ways and, despite some of Chaplin's regrets regarding making it, I'm ultimately glad that he did. Some of the bits go on a bit too long in stretching out singular jokes, but otherwise I did like the humor well enough.

23. Nosferatu (1979) Unfortunately seen in the form of the most recent restoration, since that's what my friend ended up getting without knowing. Though after doing a quick check on what the film's supposed to look like, I think I do prefer it over the 2024 one, minus the animal cruelty.
