着物を着ている人たちの「作り帯にすれば気軽に着物が着れますね〜」という会話を聞いてふと思う。例えば昔でも作り帯にする技術はあったわけで、にもかかわらず帯を二部構成にしなかったことには、なるべくなら糸を切らない、とか、長いものを結ぶということに込める願いがあるからではないのかな　つまりお太鼓の形自体がその意味なのではないだろうか、、、と有平糖の千夜結をみながら　塩芳軒さんの「西陣らしいお菓子」ってこういう意味なのかなとか

ミンゲイインターナショナルで先日見たチャパンというウズベキスタンの外套のような衣服。絣みたいな織物なのですが、茶の湯の裂地、太子間通によく似ているな、と思いました。シルクロードを経て日本にたどり着いた裂地が、人に愛され守られて今に残る。想いは、繋ぎ手がいる限り人間が地球上で与えられた時間を超えて残るのですね。

Torrey Pine Possibly the rarest and endangered pine species only found in San Diego and Santa Rosa Island. What I love is their long silver green needles. That silver green color is found in many of the native plants here.

Chicken in a Fried Onion Sauce today from Madhur Jaffrey’s Indian Cookery book. It was light yet flavorful and delicious with basmati rice to sop up all the sauce.
