@spryoldlorax.bsky.social All this anti-voting stuff feels like really culty stuff to be honest. Like they believe voting isn't just "bad if it's for an impure person", but that it's wrong period if the person isn't who THEY designate as "correct and pure". Which...politics is NOT religion.

I think they don't WANT a lasting movement. What they want is an EXCLUSIVE movement where they are always the moral victors, doomed or otherwise. If they can force us all to bow to them, that's victory. If they fail but they can taint us as "impure", then that's also victory. It's an ego trip.

And this is a TERRIBLE way to go about things, because it comes off as puerile and stupid outside of high school. You guys are fighting for your lives, but too many dipshits still think this is high school where they finally get to be part of the cool kid in-crowd of populists or something.

I'm honestly convinced part of the issue is that these people operate on the mindset of an edgy teenager. They can't JUST have what they're aiming for; they have to feel powerful in the process, to make the "stodgy adults" feel mad while they get to be Ferris Bueller sticking it to "The man".

At least, that's what it looks like in the online space. And this disconnect between reality and their short-sighted desires is what's causing so many issues.

Yeah, I don't disagree. But I think a lot of people just...don't want to be with the "boring" and "nerdy" wonks. They want excitement, they want to feel "important" and part of "the right clique" of exciting people. Because boring people do the work, but they want to FEEL impressive above all else.

We're basically being held hostage by people who endlessly cannot let go of their desire to be popular with the biggest jerks on the playground, is what it feels like.

I sometimes think it's because everyone keeps on regressing back to some kinda weird caricature of high school, where the hard workers are the guys who everyone takes for granted, but the "cool kids" who perform and everyone wants to be part of the in-crowd of keeps on dominating in people's minds.

I wonder if they'll be saying the same thing decades down the line, or if they'll suddenly have a change of heart and decide they're indispensable when the young people of their era decide THEY'RE obsolete and disposable.

Really that last bit says so much. They don't really think of anyone, even their "comrades", as anything more than pawns in their violent fantasies, footsoldiers that THEY get to imagine themselves "leading" (aka expecting US to die while they reap the rewards) to their "utopia".

It's the difference between an egotistical vanity project, versus people who genuinely want to fight because they care and have something to lose. There are FAR too many online types who treat everything, even life or death situations, as the former because they're privileged enough to do so.
051
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 09/01/2026
And tellingly, no matter what label they claim, they're just as selfish and lazy both ways. They want US to die for their rewards, claim the credit, and then spit on us for daring to get their prize dirty with our blood when they're the ones who shot us in the backs.

That's not redemption: That's manipulative abuse and weaponizing their own victim complex, smugly using redemption as a way to avoid ever facing any consequences for their own actions.
120
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 20/11/2025
They treat redemption like a revolving hotel door: something they can go in and out of whenever they want and abuse people outside and cause whatever harm they want, and expect to be let back into the hotel whenever they want to abuse the staff inside, exploiting that goodwill to shield themselves.
120
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 20/11/2025
Intensely mean thought: Redemption is something that anyone can have, but what I've seen so far doesn't suggest a desire to redeem themselves. It's a desire to avoid accountability for their two-faced behavior.

Cynicism is only useful if you can keep it in check and use it to push yourself to be better and face the world with clearer eyes. But in this case, their cynicism is just moral cowardice disguised as faux-intelligence.

Yep, a rapture that many of them are utterly convinced they'll be left untouched by, which TOTALLY isn't exactly the same kind of logic that the enemy uses. That's the real reason they're freaking out at the consequences of their actions; they thought only the "wrong people" would suffer, not them.
030
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 12/08/2025
It's like doomsday prepper logic except with vaguely "leftist" coat of paint. The assumption that if society fell apart that they'd be the untouched ones, all while ignoring how depending they really are on the electrical grid they take for granted, and everything else for that matter.

And we wouldn't have had to run this marathon with 3 limbs tied behind us if so many of these kinds of "progressives" had done the legwork earlier instead of acting like the exact kind of stereotype they supposedly scorn and stubbornly refused to do anything, or shanked people in the back.

I think it's some kind of moral sadism. People like that want to feel moral from causing pain, not making things better. Which is what they keep trying to do. They want the people they despise to bend the knee to them while they get to gloat about "being right".

Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 20/06/2025
I think part of it is them being bored, and desperately wanting a thrill to make themselves feel more important, rather than just a footnote in history in the messy slog that it would actually take to make any meaningful progress. Conservative egotism with social justice language.
030
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 11/06/2025
I think they expected the side they sneered at to win nonetheless, so they could keep their cushy sneering and performative behavior. I think the reality is sinking in that they've partially helped make things worse, that there's no real protection for them, and that people are pissed at them.
010
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 02/06/2025
I think they take a perverse pleasure in misery, both their own and others. They don't want to do or get any better, but they hate other people being happy or trying to because it constantly punches a hole through their own self-serving vanity underneath their self-inflicted misery tantrums.

I think so many people online don't want to get yelled at; they want to be the one doing the yelling and screaming and hurling abuse because it FEELS good to finally be the aggressor. Problem is, they throw all strategy and tactics out the window in the process in the pursuit of that high.
030
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 26/05/2025
I also think they're absolutely ashamed of their own lack of talent and unwillingness to gain any meaningful skills, so they have to wreck everything else and plop themselves atop a throne of lies and self-created falsehoods to soothe their fragile ego.

Wretched thieves don't care for or understand the value of anything except how it benefits themselves, and become viciously angry when their self-serving image is punctured.

And far too many of them do this because for all of their grandstanding about "opposing the privileged and wealthy", many of them are themselves likely privileged and wealthy enough that they believed they could avoid the cost themselves, offsetting the damage onto the "unworthy" people.

And the role the media (both online and offline) played in this cannot be understated either. They have a massive grudge against Biden (and by proxy Harris) because he refused to go along with their bullshit, and they made him their scapegoat by allowing his opponent so much leeway.
030
Enigma2Me @enigma2meagain.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
The problem is just that though: too little time, and too many stupid people and the media not paying attention or actively trying to disregard her for their own selfish reasons. And honestly, I don't think ANY candidate could have reasonably managed to win under those kind of circumstances.

Even so, I think Harris' campaign was just fighting a badly uphill battle. The fact that she managed to win 75 million votes (3rd highest number of votes in history) despite having only 3 months to pull it off and so many people not knowing about the switch is exceptional.

I'm frankly not surprised at his cowardice. Blumenthal's been doing nothing but trying to silence the online space for over a decade. And he's been a two-faced snake when it comes to LGBT rights, hawking himself as a champion of it, yet supporting bills like KOSA.
