Postscript: it may be, as you suggest, the US has intel that Russia was helping Iran target our bases, and Ratcliffe went to “ask them nicely” to stop. This would be an easier thing to contain inside the CIA as opposed to other channels; it would be disastrous if it were true and Trump did nothing.
