ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dak Prescott was walking the long hallway to the locker room after the Dallas Cowboys' 24-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night when he heard one word from the side of the corridor: "Embarrassing." The speaker was a third-party contractor positioned just outside the players' exit from the AT&T Stadium field, not a full-time stadium employee. Multiple reports later identified him as a car-service driver working for a contractor. Early social-media posts described him as a stadium worker. That description was later narrowed. Prescott turned toward the man.

HOUSTON — Dak Prescott pulled Quinnen Williams in close on the NRG Stadium turf, the noise of a come-from-behind afternoon still hanging over the field. “I love you,” the Cowboys quarterback said. Williams answered the way a captain does after a win that did not come clean: “We’re gonna get better, bro.” Prescott was not finished. “Let’s go on that run we talked about,” he told the defensive tackle, the official club account later captioning the exchange as an unstoppable run the two had already mapped out. A third teammate stepped into the huddle as the group broke apart.

Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken used a midweek availability to break down running back Jaleel McLaughlin’s 28-yard touchdown run against the Pittsburgh Steelers, pointing to unselfish perimeter blocking as the reason the play finished in the end zone. The score came on McLaughlin’s only offensive snap of the Thursday night game at Huntington Bank Field. Cleveland won 27-24 to improve to 3-1. The touchdown, which tied the game at 7-7 with 12:14 remaining in the second quarter, followed a turnover and required just four plays. The update comes three days after the Jets (1-3) fell 23-12 at the Chicago Bears. Taylor, Enagbare, Hall, Mitchell, Parham and Mauigoa were all inactive for that game. New York hosts the Cleveland Browns (3-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Minnesota Vikings signed veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad on Wednesday, reuniting the three-time Pro Bowler with head coach Kevin O'Connell and placing another former LSU receiver in the same building as Justin Jefferson. The team announced the move before its Week 5 trip to New Orleans. Minnesota also added wide receiver Jeshaun Jones to the practice squad. Beckham is not on the active 53-man roster. He can be elevated for a game, but a practice-squad signing does not guarantee snaps against the Saints or anyone else.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Roquan Smith is going home again, and he is not going alone. The Baltimore Ravens linebacker said Wednesday that his high school team and the local recreation department will be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium when Baltimore visits the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football. After Kyren Williams bounced outside and fought into the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown with 1:10 left, the Rams head coach was still yelling on the sideline, the kind of reaction the NFL later framed as voice-losing in its Week 4 Mic'd Up package. The score gave Los Angeles its first lead of the afternoon and completed a 14-point fourth-quarter rally. The Rams held on for a 24-20 win, moving to 2-2. The Eagles dropped to 2-2 after leading 20-10 at halftime and never trailing until Williams' second score.

The team posted the feature under the line “The Voice of the Texans’ fav calls.” On-screen text identifies Vandermeer as “Voice of the Texans, 2002-present.” The piece mixes booth commentary with game footage from across the franchise’s history, including sequences with quarterback Matt Schaub and scoring plays at what is now NRG Stadium.

It was the first event inside the Superdome since Hurricane Katrina struck on Aug. 29, 2005, and the Saints’ first game there since Dec. 26, 2004. The performance was a pregame set, not a halftime show, and it remains one of the defining images of the franchise’s return home.

The Giants agreed Monday to send a 2027 fifth-round draft pick to Minnesota for McCarthy. The trade is pending McCarthy passing a physical.
