Our pan-European #WildlifeMonitoring focuses on 🦌, 🐺 & 🐗. And our harmonized 🐗 density estimates already support European efforts towards #ASF preparedness & risk assessment.  Become a data provider & contribute: mammalnet.com/de/imammalia  wildlifeobservatory.org/join-the-eow

Rather than describing individual local #wildlife populations in isolation, the ENETWILD density model helps reveal patterns at the continental scale that wouldn't be visible from individual datasets. These patterns help to understand challenges in #WildlifeManagement that extend beyond borders.

When you share #wildlife data with ENETWILD, your data don't go directly into a map or model. They become part of a scientific workflow: standardization – harmonization – estimating densities.  Hunting statistics, citizen science observations & camera trap footage are all processed differently. 👉🧵

We collect and create standardized wildlife data from across Europe which reveals patterns that could not be identified with 1 data set from 1 location. We then harmonize them, produce and verify estimates for wildlife density at European scale. Our focus is on ruminants, carnivores and wild boar.

Your #wildlife data can become part of a harmonized European evidence base that: •    supports scientific research •    informs wildlife management •    surveys infectious wildlife diseases and assesses disease risk,  •    protects wildlife, livestock and humans. #OneHealth 👉🧵

Through the use of common standards & metadata, we are able to combine & compare different wildlife data from across Europe. This results in an unmatched geographic coverage, creating a stronger evidence base for disease surveillance, risk assessment and wildlife management across Europe.

Understanding #wildlife populations requires combining information from many complementary sources. Hunting statistics, citizen science and camera trapping each provide a different part of a bigger picture. Harmonization of data is key to making the different data comparable.

No single monitoring method is sufficient on its own. Every dataset matters for #WildlifeMonitoring. Together, they become something far more powerful. 👉🧵

If we collect wildlife data year after year using common standards and protocols, regional observations become long-term evidence at European scale that helps us identify the info needed for the #OneHealth approach.

ENETWILD @enetwild.com · 17/09/2026
Wildlife populations are constantly changing in response to environmental conditions, disease, management practices and human activities.  And they do that across borders, which necessitates pan-European collaboration and standardization.

A single year's data is a snapshot.  Long-term data reveal a trend. #WildlifeMonitoring👉🧵

In different countries and regions, wildlife populations are monitored using different methods, standards and reporting systems.  This makes it difficult to compare monitoring data across borders, and we can’t understand population dynamics or the spread of diseases across borders reliably.

ENETWILD @enetwild.com · 10/09/2026
Wildlife doesn't recognise borders. #WildlifeMonitoring shouldn't either. But for that, wildlife monitoring across Europe has to be harmonized.  👉🧵

Updated wild boar hunting yield abundance model at European scale
The aim of this report is to model the hunting yield (HY) density of wild boar across their distribution range in Europe using updated data by January 2026. As with previous HY-based models, the response variable was the maximum annual number of wild boar hunted during the 2015–2025 hunting season...

Policymakers rely on consistent, comparable data to guide wildlife management and align with EU goals. Without harmonisation, policies can’t match the realities on the ground.

ENETWILD @enetwild.com · 30/07/2026
Data managers transform thousands of local reports into national and EU-wide datasets. But with every layer of aggregation there is a risk of losing precision. Better metadata and harmonised structures can change that.
