Abuse at work often begins when you speak up about a problem. An insecure boss sees you as a threat and uses a false narrative to weaken you and push you out. The employer joins in to avoid liability.

Annual performance reviews are just weapons to create a false narrative. If employers truly cared about performance, they'd meet with them regularly 1:1 and with compassion. The status quo is about power and control.
