In the morning the petals are heavy with dewdrops. In this wet state, the little blue flower is hard to identify—so for now, it’s simply a small #blue #flower for #ColorADay #BlueTue, a distinctive presence in our #September #meadow. #ECK #photography #garden #nature #naturephotography

A black-and-white feathered hooded crow is perched on the top of a garden statue in the Sanssouci palace park near Potsdam, Germany. This species of crow apparently occurs only in eastern Germany, while the related carrion crow lives only in western Germany. In a transition zone about 150 kilometres wide between western and eastern Germany, there are evidently hybrid forms.

Since early summer, we have very often been able to observe a great spotted #woodpecker at the feeding station. Later, it began to appear accompanied by the female bird and a young bird. #nature #naturephotography #bird #birds #wildlife

A building of the Beelitz Sanatorium is being reclaimed by the forest. The front of the building is made of red bricks. The windowpanes are missing, but some frames and window ledges are still visible. The roof structure is gone; it burned down during the fighting in the Second World War. A forest has established itself on the area where the roof once was. The lush, dense greenery of the trees on top of the building creates a surreal effect. This lost place is an accessible attraction. From a treetop walkway, you have a view of the former sanatorium buildings.

A split in the bark of a cherry tree: A great spotted #woodpecker is collecting hazelnuts from our tree, wedging them into a gap in the cherry tree and pecking away until it has reached the nut. The bird is very successful with this. #ECK #Scape #GardenScape #photography #nature #naturephotography
