The reason I designed this collar based on a watch mechanism, is to symbolize the countdown to midnight. This collar was a challenge and a struggle, but I really enjoy a good challenge!

The mold for the original collar was likewise destroyed, so I made a new one in sterling silver, gemstones and 18k gold plating. This luxurious collar is inspired by anl 18th century verge escapement pocket watch mechanism, which was used to protect the watch movements and cover the balance wheel.

The mold for the corset was destroyed years ago, but I still had 1 bronze one left in my personal collection, so I decided to part with it and give it to this special Cinderella. I gold-plated it with 24k yellow gold, and enhanced it with intricate ribbon work, tiny bows and unique lacing

The beautiful Hagia Sophia cathedral in Constantinople is one of Theodora and Justinian’s lasting legacies. Theodora died of breast cancer at 50, and Justinian never recovered or remarried. Theodora was canonized as a Saint by the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Theodora was deeply devout and worked hard to promote her faith throughout the Byzantine Empire. Her husband Emperor Justinian supported her feminist and religious work and policies, and together they were quite the power couple.

Working on the details of the lips on soft-fired porcelain. Using a needle I'm able to etch fine details. A slight alteration to the lips can change the entire expression; we convey so much with subtle movements of our mouths. And Tiny Tooba assists me.

Usually with beading I see my composition progress with every bead, but with this it's just one more flower over and over again until I have enough to assemble them into a crown. I call this stage “A Leap of Faith” as you just have to trust your intuition that it will be worth it
