Avoid character complexity in fonts. Simpler shapes and patterns of typographical text are more quickly and accurately analyzed by the human mind. Be careful with complex fonts, especially for long sections of text.

A SIMPLE GUIDE TO PROVIDING USEFUL ALT ON BLUESKY 1/ ALT's sole function on Bluesky is to provide an autonomous & as fully equivalent an experience of an image as possible for the blind/VI & neurodivergent If you can see it & read it, I should be able to feel or hear it without leaving Bluesky
Baby Cat, seated on her haunches on an unmade bed, her right forepaw resting on the back of her human's white skinned left hand.

BC's gazing solemnly at her human with her enormous sage green eyes, a look of determination on her white milk muzzle. BC exudes quiet confidence, but she still wishes there was an Image Description reminder on Bluesky she could enable, so she couldn't possibly forget to add ALT before tweeting.

Baby Cat is an adult deep chocolate colored tan-ticked tabby. All 4 of her legs are tiger striped, as is her tan chest & neck. The stripes on her neck & chest look like necklaces of varying widths & hues, from jet black to milk chocolate.

BC has a tan face with black markings, white whiskers, a white milk muzzle & an irresistibly boopable dusty rose nose. Her back coat is a rich chocolate brown, dappled by golden specks. In a sign of great sincerity, BC's whiskers—like her lynx-tufted ears–are at full alert.

If you use the clapping hands emoji between every word for emphasis, screen reader users will hear "clapping hands" after each word. This is true for any emoji. This will be distracting, annoying, and disorienting. The message you're trying to emphasize will likely be lost.

When writing alt text, ask yourself if you would picture an approximation of the image if it was described to you over the phone using the alt text you've written. Doing that exercise can be a good way to determine if you're on the right track.

Have you heard the term CIND before? (CIND= pronounced - kind-) It's intended to be an inclusive acronym for the Chronic, Neurodivergent and Disability communities. Like the LGBTQIA+ acronym, it is a spectrum of people with different conditions who can often face similar challenges and barriers.🦾♿️
Infographic - Acronym for the chronic community C: Stands for chronic illness. This can be both physical and mental illness. I:Stands for Immumocompromised individuals. N: Stands for neurodivergence. Neurodivergent is a term that describes people whose brain processes differently compared to neurotypicals e.g. ADHD, ABI's. D: Stands for disability: A disability is a physical or mental condition that makes it more difficult to perform certain tasks and to interact with the world around them. This acronym can be used in a similar way to other acronyms such as lgbtqia+. It encapsulates multiple different identities that might face similar societal struggles. Please be kind to CIND individuals! Authors: @MoxyStarr @SynkittyArt. Blue text, pale pink background and an illustration of a woman in a wheelchair with a small child.

I'm starting to learn to try and write myself it is very early days and mostly on these platforms but I did recently manage to produce and get published my first longer piece (not long long like 1000 words) theangrynoodle.com/words-are-po...

Writer Ruth delves into the power of words and how it can be used to humanity's benefit—and, often, our collective detriment.

I stumbled across this post today while doing research for work. And MAN is this a good lesson for all software development teams. TREAT ACCESSIBILITY AS BUGS, NOT FEATURE REQUESTS!!!!

Treat accessibility issues as bugs, not feature requests
It takes leadership to treat accessibility issues as bugs, and prioritize them before a project is released. Learn how they do it at Drupal.

We all know the extreme level of online harassment and abuse some cohorts face and all the ways this can and will lead to real life mental and physical harm. It's time a base set of Social Media safety features were required by legislation - law. #FuckElonMusk #auspol

A photo from the flower room in 'The Monet in Paris' exhibit currently in Brisbane. They used an AI program outside the front door to do Impressionist style artworks which didn't seem able to pick me up in my wheelchair. So I made my own instead 😁 #MonetInParis #Impressionists #AccessibleEvent
An AI illustration of a woman in a light blue dress, shoulder length brown hair with golden highlights from the lights, sitting in a wheelchair holding a glass of wine. The woman has been illustrated from a photo of Synkitty but the rest of the image is the original photo in the Garden room of the 'Monet in Paris' exhibit currently open in Brisbane. Hundreds of colourful, fake flowers cover the mounded floor which rises above her head, the walls are mirrors and flowers also hang from the ceiling creating an optical illusion of never ending flowers with a lit pathway in a loop in front.

ARTIST PLEASE DONT DRAW THE FIRST WHEELCHAIR U SEE IN GOOGLE STOP DRAWING BARBRA CHAIR LIKE THIS!!! here's some pointers & an example of a great wheelchair for a L5 paraplegic!! #comics #artist #disability #wheelchairs
THIS IS A TENNIS CHAIR arrow from left top image of barbra
below: Barbra flying out chair because no seatbelt or break
LETS SEE WHY THIS IS BAD

then 3 images
first showing the weird wheels caster that are defiantly only used in contact sport chairs says: these extra wheels mean no slopes! barbra stuck at base of slope "guess i live here now"
2nd image showing awful stiff 90* chair seat
paraplegics dont have hip strength to stay 90* like this shows barbra on floor from loss of balance due to leg strength been needed

3rd image show the tiny wheels
look at these tiny wheels how's she supposed to push ?!
image shows Barba having to do leg lifts to just push this things as she crunched up

on chair good design

seatbelts
proper seat for lumbar
look breaks
seat dip to support/ secure legs and knees
shock absorbers for terrains
dip foot holder to make it easier to transfer
only 2 caster wheels the correct amount!
made of carbon fibre and thicc
you can add fashion to wheels
