It’s the end of an era…20 or so years ago I brought all these tapes to Newfoundland. Mostly 80s and 90s. Today I found out my Sony Walkman quit working. Lots of memories into the trash.

I went to take down the birdfeeder in my Iris bed. I stepped on a stepping stone and I looked down and saw a copperhead about 6 inches from my foot. He didn’t move around. He was all coiled up so I just let him be. Note, not my photo. Seems like he is gone this morning.

This shows the construction of our deck, built 20 years ago. Made from 6x6s, instead of 8x8s as they do today. Cracking, shifting. The problem is that these are weight bearing; they hold up the back of our house. To replace these, who should I hire? Structural engineer? regular construction guy?

#birds Went down to the park this morning. Lots of bluebirds and swallows. Eastern towhee, red shouldered hawk, house sparrow, nuthatch, titmice, crows, chipping sparrow. A bird bonanza!
