and it's very obvious to me that hinako does not actively desire marriage. her leaving herself open to the possibility feels like she is conceding to society instead of being firm in her will to retain autonomy. i just don't understand why the whole game paints marriage as the bane of hinako's

and most interpretations i see interpret the peace btw. hinako and her otherself as a compromise between leaving herself open to marriage with kotoyuki and temporarily learning abt herself. i don't think she should be friends with him bc he is culpable for a lot of the torment she experienced.

Like usually the octopath games have strong individual stories though i think it's a pattern that they struggle to tie everything together for the finales but in this game both felt pretty weak and underwhelming to me. Or maybe I have nostalgia-tinted glasses on but OT2's story was way better

that being said i adore eltrix, tatloch, alexia, heidne, delitia, and reime as my all-time faves even if i do wish tatloch's story/non-redemption arch had more of a satisfying conclusion. i don't think it makes sense for the leaders to leave her to be free to conquer other nations at all

with 120 hours in octopath traveler 0 I can, with certainty, say that it is rpgslop the mechanics are way more fun than the first two games but the story is just such decrease in quality imo and it rlly doesn't work as a prequel because of some contradicting factors with the first game
