If we're going to denaturalize and deport people for sex trafficking they hid on their citizenship applications, is there a reason this would not apply to Ghislaine Maxwell?
CHILD SEX ABUSER’S CITIZENSHIP REVOKED AFTER NATURALIZATION FRAUD CONVICTION

Cyril Domaquik Clemens, a Liberian native, was convicted of three counts of indecent liberties with a child after confessing to sexually molesting a young child.

The abuse began before he naturalized, but he concealed it during the citizenship process, fraudulently obtaining U.S. citizenship.

I think the framing of this -- the polarization is not the problem -- is counterproductive, but it is a good read. Reason I say it is counterproductive is that Trump has used polarization to get normie Republicans to vote w/30% of rabid racists. muse.jhu.edu/pub/1/articl...
Across Western democracies, the average social attitudes of voters
in political parties across the spectrum have been changing along with
the framework of expanding political rights.25 Far-right parties all over
the world are working to undo that progress, and in places where they
succeed, partisan animosity increases.26 To restore a functioning and
pluralistic democracy in the United States, reversing over a decade of
democratic backsliding in the world’s oldest democracy, the thing to
“fix” is not polarization. Polarization is the country’s immune response
to an unpopular, antidemocratic, and intentionally divisive faction grabbing for disproportionate power to the detriment of national success,
reputation, and democratic self-government. Tamping down that immune response only allows this minority faction to have greater control.

Interesting Buttigieg profile. www.politico.com/news/2026/10...
Buttigieg was welcomed in places where candidates shunned some of his potential rivals. He campaigned with Rob Sand and Josh Turek in Iowa as they run for governor and senator, respectively. He backed Brandon Dukes in his special election effort to flip a Pennsylvania state House seat that Trump won by 18 points. He was alone among his peers in endorsing Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin in his victory over longtime Rep. John Larson in Connecticut.

“If I can help give voice to what people are after in diverse geographies, including very conservative areas,” he said, “turns out that’s my best use of time.”

But I think this is outdated. Congress did this, for example, on Big Ugly. They did on Epstein. They did on some other things (sometimes limited by what everyone would agree on). Over and over and over people On Here, political junkies, never heard it. We need to talk about WHY.
To make some or all of this happen, Democrats in the House and Senate need to do what they have failed to do up to now: create a unified and disciplined message to let Americans know what the problems are and what they are doing about them. Trump has learned from his friend Steve Bannon that if you flood the zone with outrages, they will wash over each other and few if any will stick. The media are ill equipped to handle it, and most voters, occupied with their own lives and challenges, are not paying close attention to every corrupt act or policy outrage. If Democrats, given the timidity of the press corps and its predilection to both-sides issues and let Trump define the narrative, do not develop a discipline that includes changing the old ways of doing business and communicating, their tenure in power will be short and brutal. The way to counter the zone is to have one message pursued relentlessly for at least a week at a time.

Me, on October 7, 2025. This is one of the videos they named in their lawsuit. emptywheel.net/2025/10/07/d...
Among other things Benny did on his cosplay cop caper was to post a video of protestors as they were being arrested, claiming they were being arrested for “VIOLENT ASSAULT.”

[A picture of a person in a red t-shirt with their hands behind their back. the T-shirt says, MAKE FASCISTS AFRAID. There's an ICE goon in a gray t-shirt, a plate vest, and shades.]

Of the Federal charges filed since then, just one has been from Broadview (it was assault, but even that one sounds like someone charged for being pushed by the Feds). If, in fact, these people weren’t charged — much less with assault — this would be slander. Since he was dolled up as a “Border Patrol Federal Agent,” even if they were arrested, this will be a privacy violation that might endanger any charges the Feds tried to file.

A great deep dive into conspiracist Kurt Olsen's efforts to undermine democracy -- especially important now that GA has asked DOJ to intervene. www.reuters.com/investigatio...
Olsen’s investigation ultimately found no evidence that foreign actors had infiltrated US voting systems, manipulated machines or swayed the 2020 election. He told colleagues that intelligence agencies and White House officials had thwarted the effort by withholding information, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.
In May, he joined federal prosecutors in Florida examining whether the Obama and Biden administrations had weaponized the government against Trump. Olsen told Reuters that he had stepped down from that role on Monday but remains employed by the Justice Department. He declined to discuss his work or answer questions about this story. The Justice Department confirmed he remains an employee.

One ¶ in a ruling issued yesterday holding Congress CANNOT set rules on voter qualification, & USG cannot prosecute non-citizens for voting in Fed elections. This opinion has been & will be misrepresented (& I am correcting my own misrepresntation).
Here’s the weird part, and it has real bite for our case: None of the rationales contained in the
opinions that upheld the voting-age provision in Mitchell were supported by a majority of the Supreme
Court. Importantly, five Justices rejected the view that the Elections Clause empowered Congress to
regulate voter qualifications in federal elections. Id. at 143 (op. of Douglas, J.), 210 (op. of Harlan, J.),
288 (op. of Stewart, Burger, and Blackmun, JJ.). Equally importantly, five Justices also rejected the view
that the Fourteenth Amendment empowered Congress to lower the voting age. See id. at 124–30 (op.
of Black, J.), 155 (op. of Harlan, J.), 293–94 (op. of Stewart, Burger, Blackmun, JJ.). The Mitchell
majority judgment on the voting-age provision, therefore, was formed by combining two divergent
rationales: one based on the Elections Clause and one based on the Fourteenth Amendment. So while
there were five votes for the result—upholding the voting-age provision for federal elections—there
were explicit majorities of the Supreme Court that rejected each of the rationales (the Elections Clause and
the Fourteenth Amendment) that allowed for that very result. Quite unusual, and it raises the question:
What is the precedential effect of Mitchell in that kind of situation?

Then Talk Business & Politics and Hendrix College released a poll of 1,217 likely voters on August 19 putting Shoffner at 47 percent and Cotton at 44, inside a margin of error of 4.7 points. But as NYT reported (as did others), the fate of the Iranian militias in Iraq are a very big deal. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/30/w...
First established with Iranian support to fight the U.S. occupation, the militias killed hundreds of American soldiers, and the sectarian bloodshed they helped foment killed tens of thousands of Iraqis. In 2014, when Iraqi Shiites mobilized to fight the Islamic State, the militias multiplied. In the years since, the thousands-strong militias have grown in power — not only through military might but also by forming political parties that deeply embed them in the state.

Mr. al-Zaidi has pledged to bring the militias under state control by mid-2027. But it is far from clear that he can deliver. The stakes are high: Through Iraq’s U.S.-based bank account for oil payments, Washington controls the physical shipment of dollars Iraq earns and has shown itself willing to use that power after temporarily halting the flow this year.

Iran is determined to preserve the militias, which have proved to be valuable partners in launching strikes during the war, in sowing regional chaos and in inflicting drastic costs on the global economy.

In a recent New York Times interview, Mr. al-Zaidi said, “Every Iraqi today wants his country to have complete sovereignty; they want power to be exclusively in the hands of the state,” and he pledged to end “the law of the jungle.”

The unforeseen consequences of withdrawal
Many Iraqis worry how their country will fare in this struggle.

“We fear Iraq could be swallowed up,” said Ahmad al-Shammari, an employee at the ministry of education in Falluja, a city that came to symbolize the fragile victories of the first American military presence in Iraq.

What Trent McCotter & Stan Woodward cite (in quotation marks) as Judge Schiltz' "comments" are in most cases @schwartzesque.bsky.social descriptions. In case of Schiltz' purported statement about ongoing Cities Chuch case, the ONLY thing that has to have come from Schiltz was in a letter he sent.
Quote from complaint

The Trump Administration has also “gone over his head” (and “gone around him”) “to an appeals court” after Judge Schiltz had advised Minnesota’s U.S. Attorney that Judge Schiltz would not review a magistrate judge’s decision to deny a search warrant application until “after the bench met in person the following week.”

Passage of story those "quotes" are based on

On Jan. 23, Judge Schiltz was at home cooking lunch when he received an email informing him the Trump administration had gone over his head to an appeals court.

[snip]

Minnesota’s U.S. attorney, Daniel Rosen, then took the unusual step of requesting that another judge review Judge Micko’s decision. Judge Schiltz had told Mr. Rosen that he would decide on that after the bench met in person the following week.

That timeline wasn’t fast enough for the Justice Department. The Jan. 23 email informed Judge Schiltz that the administration had gone around him.I informed the U.S. Attorney that because he was asking me to do something that was unprecedented, and because my colleagues had strong and differing views on how our district should respond to such a request, I would not decide whether to issue the five warrants sought by the government until I had a chance to discuss the issue with my colleagues at our bench meeting,

Rich malicious people like Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk babysitting Donald Trump.A seating chart of the people at the AI summit. Trump's seat, marked POTUS, is marked in blue.

Looks like Eric Schmitt has a new website--I guess to campaign to be JD's VP. senatorericschmitt.com
Schmitt
Schmitt: (verb) \ˈshmit\

1. A sudden and urgent gastrointestinal revolt in which the body issues an unmistakable, nonnegotiable evacuation order that causes a considerable mess and great humiliation.

2. To suffer a sudden, public, and spectacular political collapse, especially after overconfidently attempting a partisan attack.

3. To create such an avoidable mess that one’s credibility, message, and electoral prospects are left in tatters.

Example: “I ended up with that cyclosporiasis invection from tainted lettuce and I schmitted myself in the grocery store trying to buy some Pepto.”

Example: “During the hearing performance, he didn’t land a blow—he completely schmitted himself.”

As part of a motion to suppress in the case of accused pipe bomber Brian Cole, his lawyers released his arrest 302 which revealed 1) FBI used a dumbass excuse not to turn on BWC and 2) they only had 8 SWAT team members. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Part of a heavily redacted 302 report.

It shows a table listing SWAT PERSONNEL, with 8 entirely redacted names listed.

It also explains that body worn cameras "were not utilized during this arrest operation due to the exigent nature created by COLE's unexpected departure from his residence."

Actually both Huang and Pichai have great signatures. I cut them off to focus on the spelling error.
Jensen Huang's signature. It is big, right leaning, with huge loops for the J and the G.Sundar Pichai's signature.

It looks like a Japanese Kanji, with a central vertical cross and annotations in each of the quandrants.

Tho I actually like this post better. IMO, one smart response to these ads is to taunt GOP MoCs that Trump is still sitting on mountains of $$ and instead using taxpayer dollars to remind voters what a corrupt asshole he is.
The inept White House political propagandists are using our money on government-sponsored campaign TV ads for the sinking GOP. The latest commercial tries to rally the dwindling MAGA base by reminding them that Trump once posed as a fighter against warmongers and a corrupt political establishment, but the recycled ad just sharply reminds everyone that the lying Trump is the war-maker-in-chief and presides over the most corrupt presidential administration in U.S. history. You can’t use our tax dollars to fool us.

NEW: The Trump admin is airing *another* taxpayer-funded political ad, & this time, it's from his 2024 campaign.

Trump says in the ad: "We will demolish the deep state, expel the warmongers from our government... We will rout the fake news media..."

Jamie Raskin calls out the shitty ads as a crime (this was cited by CNN and other stories). This is the kind of Xitter post that I beg of @raskin.house.gov or other MoCs to cross-post over here -- not least bc more people over here are likely to magnify it.
Rep. Jamie Raskin

@RepRaskin
This may be felony criminal theft and conversion of government property for political campaign purposes. 18 U.S.C. § 1641. It is a Hatch Act violation for any government employees who worked on it or used government resources to make it. It is blatantly unethical under numerous federal ethics provisions proscribing the use of government resources for political campaigns.

The White House is currently airing this video as an ad during commercial breaks on Fox News.

It looks and sounds like a political spot and includes a disclaimer stating that it is paid for by the U.S. government.

The soundtrack: as images of Trump flash across the screen,
