Good morning, everyone! Posting this for no particular reason…

The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930, signed by then President Herbert Hoover, was a major accelerant of the First Great Depression.

I really wish Minecraft would make the Happy Ghast process include the regular Ghast. Imagine dehydrating it with fire attacks and then it becomes a Dried Ghast…

Once again posting this for no apparent reason…

Brief summary of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of June 1930 signed by then-President Herbert Hoover. It wasn’t a factor that started the Great Depression, but it was a factor that worsened it…

Imagine AOC being the FDR to Trump’s Herbert Hoover… Totally unrelated screenshot from Wikipedia

Excerpt from Herbert Hoover’s Wikipedia page regarding the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of June 1930, which raised tariffs on many goods and led to retaliatory tariffs from other countries and the worsening of both international trade and the U.S. economy, the latter of which was currently suffering the early stages of the Great Depression. Totally not like history is echoing…

To everyone else reading London’s post, I am once again tapping the sign.

Excerpt from Herbert Hoover’s Wikipedia page concerning tariffs. Former President Hoover signed the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act into law in June 1930 despite its unpopularity and the warnings from many economists. He meant to help farmers suffering in the Dust Bowl by raising agricultural tariffs, but the bill raised tariffs on MANY other goods as well. Many other countries retaliated by raising their own tariffs, and both international trade and the U.S. economy (already in the early stages of the Great Depression) worsened. Hoover only lasted one term before being defeated by FDR. History is echoing…
