A big critique of the justice system is that the rich can effectively buy better outcomes for themselves. Even a month in jail would be life ruining for a poor person but not a rich person. A rich person could easily take time off for community service while a poor person gets additional labour.

It really has been interesting using Jacob Geller as a bouncing off point for what online leftists think of the justice system. A prison abolitionist said proper justice would be Jacob paying the victim. I was then told I was proudly defending Geller because I believe Weregild benefits the rich.

The issue with that graphic is that it has to do with two people in an abusive situation, apply it to parasocial relationships is disingenuous. Also, Jacob hasn't repeated the cycle (as far as we know), it was a one time incident. It's not manipulating a victim if he really hasn't reoffended.
