New article out, open access, in Itinerario: “West Papuans between transnationalism and internationalism.” I trace how West Papuan activists used regional organisations and the UN to push for self‑determination, linking their campaigns to debates about race, sovereignty, and representation.

Incredible article on the problems of citizenship in the aftermath of empire and refugees’ use of air travel to carve out a space for themselves between exclusionary and conflicting immigration regimes.

Creating a 'spare parts' document for writing I'm not yet willing to cut is still my most effective way of killing my darlings while doing revisions. Do I ever put these things back into the text? No. Do I need to pretend that I might? Yes, every time.

New here! I’m a historian who expands global histories of decolonisation to include Pacific and indigenous peoples. I work on anticolonialism and environmentalism in Oceania and am increasingly convinced you can’t talk about one without the other (even though that’s what I did in my first project).
