i’ll believe text to cad is useful when you all dictating to your car instead of using a steering wheel until then, i will continue abusing my keyboard and mouse

if you’re designing sheet metal, give this page to your agent and it will answer questions for you. being able to chat through design questions is clutch you can set it up as a skill as well sendcutsend.com/llm-search-specs
sendcutsend.com

Machine-readable specs and ordering guide for AI agents and developers building with SendCutSend. Catalog, engineering specs, and ordering flow.

i tout direct modeling but don't give examples of it excelling, so, here's one: the hole to edge distance here is too small. it only takes one operation (surface offset) to remedy it

such a great mechanism. you can use short stroke actuators (easier to source, maintain, etc.) with these periscoping mechanisms to get any arbitrary actuation length if you can make the force calcs work

the misconception that development was engineering led to this idea that you could become an “engineer” without an education there are exceptions to every rule (peter holderith), but don’t let outdated thinking fool you into believing you can’t become technical after a startup

new engineers: one of the most important relationships you will have will be with your vendor’s sales guy keep them close. they’re incentivized to tell you as much as they can. they’re usually semi-technical and can help you out of design holes. you can learn so much from them

speed is important in hardware because the only way to learn is to build cost is important because it makes it cheap to build and learn learning is important because it’s the way to keep speed and cost speed <> cost <> learning
