My Japan trip literally rewired this cat's brain chemistry - he's always liked being picked up but before he would never ever sit in your lap. now he crawls on and doesn't move for ages :((( bill I'm not abandoning you!!!

🌼 MARCH 🌼 longer days and flowers to beat off the last of my seasonal depression. warehouse sales and another round at the pokemon nhm pop up and retro video game markets. occasionally it does not rain!!!

⚡ FEBRUARY ⚡ atp it's rained every day of 2026 but we fight away the urge to end it all with sonic waffles. and pokemon euic!!! first time attending as a spectator instead of just the center, I had a blast. watching tcg live is surprisingly very entertaining!

Bag #1 for euic - letting the yellow rat out for the first day as I took time off work for him yet again

❄️ JANUARY ❄️ it's 2026 baybee and we're kicking off the year with some fancy new letters after me name because I passed my post grad certificate exams!! Also didn't solve the murder play, got jump scared by a would-be murderer at megacon and went to that pokemon event at the natural history

🎄 DECEMBER 🎄 weeks two and three of japan. immaculate trip. saw so much momiji and went to so many places and bought SO MANY THINGS and also got very lucky with the weather. then came home and it was xmas I guess lmao

SONIC CON what a treat and a delight. could've done with more staff on the floor and more elbow room in the dealer's hall but overall leaked passion and fun and literally everybody was so nice. my first con for a specific fandom and I reallyyy hope they bring it back. also johnny gioeli hello????

100

it's em! @emleewrites.bsky.social · 02/01/2026

MCM LONDON still THE con. made even better this year by going with friends as the mystery gang lmfao. hopefully it'll become an annual tradition - there's so much to do as a group and I enjoy low effort dressing up for the sillies. 10/10

100

it's em! @emleewrites.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

LONDON ANIME CON in this case 'con' is short for 'con artists' !! absolute waste of time - shit signage, ridiculous in-out policy every time you went up/down a floor, terrible floor layout and stalls upon stalls full of temu junk. only saving grace were the poor genuine artists. never again 1/10

110

it's em! @emleewrites.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

HYPER JAPAN a favourite. immaculate vibes from the venue and I really like how the organisers make an effort to bring in japanese culture outside of weeb stuff. the only thing is that getting food SUCKS because there's five vans for hundreds of people so you always end up getting food outside. 8/10

I know it's in vogue to downplay your year or wtv but fuck it I'm embracing happiness and 2025 fucking ruled. I went to some amazing places and spent time with some fabulous people and was generally pretty satisfied with work and life. And I bought sooo many toys so I'm broke. But happy 💖

MOMOCON my first american con !! had a blast seeing a big con from where they started, felt like a really good toe dip into Big USA Conventions and I'd love to do another over a full weekend. heavily enjoyed the extra activities like stamp rallies and ribbon collecting 9/10

100

it's em! @emleewrites.bsky.social · 29/12/2025

POKÉMON EUIC not technically a convention but it's an annual event for dweebs so it's basically the same thing. this year I fumbled and didn't get spectator tickets before they sold out so I've already got next year's in the bag babyyy currently a 7/10 but hopefully will get better with some ACTION

100

it's em! @emleewrites.bsky.social · 29/12/2025

MEGACON omg an event at the excel with actual elbow room, what a treat. low-key, chill vibes version of mcm. really liked how the lack of crowds meant you could chat to vendors and artists and not be a pest. bonus points for being hosted right after my birthday. 8/10 will attend next year

🌤️ AUGUST 🌤️ bit late because it's end of summer and I'm depressed lmfao. Went to Bristol to hunt gromits (et al), a retro gaming market to hunt for a PS1 (secured), and balanced pulling my hair out over a case report with securing sonic merch

110

it's em! @emleewrites.bsky.social · 31/08/2025

literally in and out in under 90 mins because the organisation was soooooo bad and a LOT of their exhibitors were shilling ai/fake mass produced tat 😵‍💫😵‍💫 and poor artists with "yes! we did draw this!!" signs it was kinda sad
