This week, I visited Ellis Elementary School's cafeteria to see Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) in action. Seeing Ellis's kitchen firsthand was a reminder of how far these dollars go.

This week I toured Ellis Elementary School to see Colorado's READ Act at work. Ahead of the tough budget decisions we will be forced to make in the coming months, it was incredibly helpful to see firsthand the impacts of this funding to students in HD9.

The Colorado Child Tax Credit and Family Affordability Tax Credit can put up to $4,473 per child back in your pocket. If you have a child or dependent under 17 and made less than $15,000 as a single filer or $26,000 filing jointly, it is worth checking if you qualify. simplefilecolorado.org

Yesterday was the first meeting of Colorado's bipartisan Medicaid Commission. In recent years, the costs of Medicaid have grown far faster than the TABOR cap allows. This is a structural problem that results in painful consequences to Colorado's more vulnerable, and something must change.

HB26-1202, my bill with Rep. Rutinel and Sen. Amabile, was signed into law this week. Every night, tens of thousands of Coloradans go to sleep without a safe place to call home. That is not acceptable, and I am proud that even in a difficult budget year we were able to do something about it.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate the right of every person to live with safety, dignity, and belonging. There is still more work to be done to make sure everyone feels welcome, safe, equal, and free in Colorado, but each year we continue to make progress. Happy Pride!

The Trump administration’s move to restrict federal funding puts Colorado families at risk. CCCAP helped 27,598 kids last year and TANF supports 47,000 children living in deep poverty. If this freeze isn’t fixed aid will run out in less than a month, hurting families and threatening providers.
