Me da mucho dolor en mi corazón ver la violencia en contra de nuestras comunidades. The sheer display of force that took place Tuesday on Lake and Bloomington, aided by county/city police at a time when immigrants live in fear, is unacceptable in a supposedly sanctuary city.

Happy Earth Day! Our campaign is centered around environmental justice, so we want to take a moment today to celebrate our beautiful parks, river, and wildlife. We must face the climate emergency boldly and adapt to our new climate, mitigate our environmental impact, and repair racialized harm.

Minneapolis families are hungry for more immersion schools, and we must work to expand the Stable Homes, Stable Schools program that has helped so many immigrant families.

tldr; we lost the sd60 primary 🙁 BUT we are so pumped to continue our momentum into Ward 3 of City Council✊ This statement reaffirms our policies and priorities, and we need YOU to make them happen! linktr.ee/emilio4mpls
statement that reads "Last Tuesday, we lost the SD60 primary. I wish to congratulate my fellow candidates for running. I look forward to building solidarity so we can protect and empower our community together. I’m grateful to the people we met and built connections with during this election, and I'm thrilled to work alongside you all soon.

We ran in the State Senate for the same reason we’re still running for City Council: we have something that deserves to be said, and we have people in our lives who we are fighting for. In these tumultuous times, lived experience, particularly from immigrants and students, is necessary to chart a shared course for all of us."Statement that reads "However, with our newfound experience and momentum, we are refocused on our City Council campaign. Our vision, our drive, and our commitment remain steadfast, and we are ready to take on the race for Ward 3. We will protect and expand Minneapolis' sanctuary protections and keep ICE out of our city.

We will expand our city's capacity for social services, especially for immigrants, non-citizens, and non-English speakers, to meet their legal and economic needs. We will continue the work for the North STAR Act at the state legislature."Statement that reads "We will fight the housing crisis through widespread zoning reform, a municipal voucher system, financial incentives for new affordable development, and rent stabilization of 6% tied to real wages. We will enumerate protections for and provide support to tenants' organizations. Lastly, we will treat our unhoused neighbors with respect and ensure they are housed through proven supportive housing programs.

MPD must be held financially and morally accountable, especially via the state and federal consent decrees. We must diversify our approach to community safety through more initiatives for unarmed and de-escalating responses to crises, such as the Behavioral Crisis Response Team, public safety ambassadorships, and Public Safety Centers. We will hire more civilian investigators, build urgently needed street-lighting in Ward 3, and fight encroaching city surveillance practices."Statement that reads "For transit, we will work with government partners to improve frequency of bus routes and ensure that new light rail and bus lines are well-funded and built on time. Transit should be a public service; therefore, it should be free for all. Minneapolis must do better to keep our sidewalks and streets safe for all by keeping them free of snow and ice and by building traffic calming projects.

Our environment faces historic dangers, and we must declare a climate emergency to adequately mitigate and adapt. We must hold our city accountable to net zero emissions by 2050, in accordance with the Climate Equity, 2040, and Northside Green Zone Work Plan. We will bolster our green economy through energy requirements, urban farms, and a Minneapolis Climate Corps."

Admittedly, our campaign hasn't been on top of our mask game to appease moderates and loud and proud anti-maskers. That changes now. The rise of H5N1, Norovirus, and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic reminds us that to protect our neighbors, we must mask up. Resources: linktr.ee/maskblocmsp
Dark blue header reads "Mask up Minneapolis!" Subheader reads "protect our neighbors" Large blue mask pictured below. Rodriguez for Minneapolis logo pictured in bottom right corner.Dark blue header reads "Public Health." Text body reads "We call on legislators and other candidates to:
Have air purifiers, masks, hand sanitizer, and other risk mitigations at all events
Prioritize disabled community members
Acknowledge the rise of H5N1, Norovirus, and Covid-19 cases
Undocumented communities, especially those in agriculture, are disproportionately affected by H5N1. Mask-up to protect every body." Logo of "Rodriguez for Minneapolis" in bottom right corner.

Emilio is on the ballot Tuesday! We stand by our complaint that student and youth voices cannot be heard if the primary takes place before winter break ends, but we're fighting as hard as we can to be seen. Turn out to vote!🗳️
Dark blue background. Text reads "Emilio Rodríguez. Senate District 60." Photo below shows Emilio holding a microphone, speaking to an audience.Gold header reads "The fight isn't over" Dark blue text below reads "On Jan. 2, we filed a complaint with the SOS, citing MN Voting Rights Act: Prohibiting election actions that deny protected classes’ voting rights. Scheduling the SD 60 Primary on Jan. 14, when many protected class voters and students are unlikely to be present, violates these rights. Unfortunately, our complaint hasn’t progressed. While our campaign stands against voter suppression, Emilio will remain on the ballot. Let’s use the voices we have to keep pushing the vote to bring our policies to life!" Logo in bottom right corner reads "Rodríguez SD60"Gold header reads "Why run for state senate and city council?" Text body reads "Emilio is qualified for both! With experience and passion, Emilio is ready to lead in either role.

We proudly support Ranked-Choice Voting. People deserve options; the "first-past-the-post" system is outdated and inequitable. Thank you @fairvotemn.bsky.social for this democracy badge. We will continue fighting for options at all levels of government!🏛️

We are honored to be endorsed by Amanda Cheng Xiong of Brooklyn Park City Council. As a second-generation Hmong immigrant, she paves the way for youth organizers to participate in politics. She knows firsthand what inequity looks and feels like. Thank you so much for supporting our campaign!

Check out our official priorities and values! Our platform is built on the principles of democracy. We represent the people's will and welcome all input, outreach, and collaboration. Schedule a meeting with Emilio if you have any questions or comments! calendly.com/emilio-emili...
White background with dark blue border with Emilio's portrait from the head to elbow. Gold text reads RODRĺGUEZ and under is dark blue text that reads "FOR MINNEAPOLIS". 4 blue text bubbles read "I strive to meet people half-way" "I am data-driven" "I prioritize people over corporations and money" "I seek to dismantle oppression in all forms" "I support small businesses" "I advocate for the working-class"Dark blue background. White text header reads "Immigration Justice." Text below reads "Our country’s immigration system is a cruel relic of an imperialist past that continues to this day. Immigrants are renters, students, queer, working-class, seniors, and small business owners; by understanding the intersectionality and history of every issue, we know that by uplifting immigrants, we uplift all our city’s residents. We must rectify our city’s shortcomings, preparing us to receive newcomers with open arms and just living conditions. We will restore human dignity to those whose dignity has been robbed by immigration law." White text header reads "Housing is a Human Right." text below reads "The average monthly rent in Ward 3 is $2,000. New housing projects are unaffordable for residents and newcomers. Houselessness is a public health crisis, representing a failure in governance that hurts Black, Indigenous, and Trans folks. We must ensure housing for all." 3 cartoon families pictured at bottom.Dark blue background. White text header reads "Community Safety." Text below reads "By meeting basic needs, we take on our city’s root problems that push and lock people into endless cycles of carceral violence; a preventative, rather than punitive, approach ensures community safety for all. Sanctuary policy, transparency, and accountability build mutual trust between the community and those protecting it. When people feel safe asking for help for themselves or their neighbors, the community is safer." White text header reads "Environmental Justice" text below reads "The history of redlining, racial covenants, and highway/plant construction in Minneapolis directly contributes to the inaccessibility of green spaces for communities of color, who consequently experience high rates of chronic diseases. Apart from vastly expanding and bolstering green transit and housing, we must restore our city’s environment and urgently adopt a vision for a sustainable future to avoid irrevocable harm to our planet and marginalized groups." Cartoon green globe pictured at bottom.Dark blue background. White text header reads "Uplifting the Working Class" Text below reads "In light of the presidential elections, it is clear that our elected officials have abandoned the working class, falling out of touch with our needs and livelihoods. Students and immigrants especially can’t buy their way into the political process, unlike corporations, developers, and millionaires who live out of state and have little stake in the communities they affect. We must move from oligarchy to democracy." White text header reads "Supporting Local Businesses" text below reads "While many politicians say that local businesses are the backbone of the American economy, few have the backbone to stand for them. Ward 3 is the beating heart of Minneapolis, keeping our city and its residents alive and thriving. I will ensure our businesses continue to flourish." Cartoon buildings pictured at bottom.

My name is Emilio César Rodríguez, and I'm running to represent Ward 3. I began as an astrophysics and sociology major at the University of Minnesota, but for the past 3 years, I've been fighting for Minnesota immigrants and climate policy. I am a fighter, an organizer, and will not back down.
