Today, the UN officially designated Israel’s assault on Gaza as a genocide. As a party to the Genocide Convention, the U.S. has a legal obligation to obey our own laws, stop weapons sales to Israel, and demand a permanent ceasefire. End the genocide. Ceasefire now.

257. The Commission recommends that all Member States:
(a) Employ all means reasonably available to them to prevent the commission of genocide in the Gaza Strip;
(b) Cease the transfer of arms and other equipment or items, including jet fuel, to the State of Israel or third States where there is reason to suspect their use in military operations that have involved or could involve the commission of genocide;

Official statement on ICE cosigned by 130+ KidLit & YA authors and illustrators. We are calling on publishers to not preemptively censor themselves in the face of this current administration and to protect marginalized creators. 🧵

We, the undersigned authors and illustrators, stand in solidarity with immigrants the nation over and refuse to accept these rampant constitutional abuses by ICE as the new norm. Immigrants are our parents, spouses, and friends. Immigrants are our communities. Many of us are immigrants ourselves. We are all deeply connected to this issue and want our voices heard on the matter.

For the past decade, the publishing world has made laudable strides in the diversity and inclusion of immigrant stories. Publishers and booksellers have helped to foster spaces where readers can develop awareness and empathy for migrant rights and history; spaces where young readers can finally discover their own stories on the library shelf. The current administration is trying to tear this progress away.

To publishers and booksellers: we call on you to continue your work. Stand behind your inclusive stories and marginalized authors, loudly and without hesitation. Help these stories reach the readers who need them most.

To our readers: we ask that you join us in taking up small tasks to support the immigrants in our lives. Call your representatives and ask what they are doing to protect their communities from ICE overreach. Donate to local immigrant aid organizations. Get involved with your local library and school board and speak up for books centering marginalized perspectives.

Let’s unite to write a new, better story for all the people in this country.

My dnd character, Violence, is multi-classing as a paladin rogue. Her patron/parole officer is the Angel of Mercy and she has to behave herself or else :)

A little folded zine I made that I'm still extremely happy with! 🪐

The cover of the zine which is called, Only Six Pages!?

I lay on the couch thinking, "Comics are pretty hard...sometimes you think..." The next panels are in colorful thought bubbles. I continue talking and say, "SIX PAGES!? How am I possibly going to fit everything!?" In the next panel I hold the edges of the panel and stare at the page number in panic. "WHAT!? I'm already on page two?! How do I STOP this thing!?"

I rush around holding colorful panels, building the page as the reader reads. I yell, "I'd better add more panels! I've got a lot I want to say! I want to make sure...." The me that's holding the middle panel is holding it askew and I fall to the side. I continue, "WOAH that there's room!" I continue adding panels, "One here! One here!" A little me at the bottom is right next to the foot of a me running through the panels above. I say "Ew! Smelly foot!" On the next page I glance back to the page prior. I say, "Wow things are looking pretty crowded over there. Maybe I need to slow down." I stand in the dark with little stars around me, looking calmer and say, "Take deep breaths. You have enough time."

I tranquilly float through space. The text around me says, "No need to panic! Six pages is actually quite a few! It'll be fine!" "Huh?" I say as I glance up at a box above me which reads, "But then suddenly..." Below me in big letters reads THE END! In the last panel I'm back on the couch, flailing. "What!? The end already!? No way!"

The is the gnome cleric I use for one shots! Her name is Sooty Tufts and she chases imps and other small fiends from chimneys. Despite being a cleric, she's allergic to healing magic. She pretends to be a human child in hopes of getting adopted by a rich family.

One of many moments in Omar El Akkad’s new book, “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This,” that will stop you in your tracks.

There is an impulse in moments like this to appeal to self-interest. To say: These horrors you are allowing to happen, they will come to your doorstep one day; to repeat the famous phrase about who they came for first and who they'll come for next. But this appeal cannot, in matter of fact, work. If the people well served by a system that condones such butchery ever truly believed the same butchery could one day be inflicted on them, they'd tear the system down tomorrow. And anyway, by the time such a thing happens, the rest of us will already be dead.
No, there is no terrible thing coming for you in some distant future, but know that a terrible thing is happening to you now. You are being asked to kill off a part of you that would otherwise scream in opposition to injustice. You are being asked to dismantle the machinery of a functioning conscience.
Who cares if diplomatic expediency prefers you shrug away the sight of dismembered children? Who cares if great distance from the bloodstained middle allows obliviousness. Forget pity, forget even the dead if you must, but at least fight against the theft of your soul.
