Uncritically citing the Forstater precedent in a discussion around whether a woman was suspended because she was trans is certainly... a choice.
A conversation between two people.

Kai Tayler (@Kaitaylor): Gender critical beliefs are protected under the Equality Act, so a member cannot face disciplinary action simply for holding them. However, if those beliefs are expressed in a way that breaches the Code of Conduct, disciplinary action can be taken.

Lush (@Peggyknapsack): Ok but in principle, should they be subject to disciplinary action, in your opinion? In other words should gender critical beliefs/transphobia be tolerated in the greens?

Kai Taylor: GC beliefs are protected. Transphobia is prejudice, discrimination or harassment towards trans people. A protected belief is not a free pass to mistreat others, and breaches of the Code of Conduct should result in disciplinary action.

We don't need more data centres. We need to make better use of the data centres we have today. Most businesses running in the cloud massively over provision their virtual machine capacity, and cloud providers are all too happy to sell it to them.
An aerial shot of an Amazon Web Services data centre. Several large box shaped buildings with small vents on the roof. There appear to be several smaller generators and various power infrastructure near the buildings also.

Great report into the rise of transphobia in the UK from @amnestyuk.bsky.social. We all knew the media were out for trans people, of course, but it is still jaw dropping to see the hard figures about how relentless the anti-trans narrative in the UK has been. media.amnesty.org.uk/documents/Li...
Key findings

- Between January 2020 and April 2025, media coverage of issues about trans people has been excessively high compared to the size of the trans population, their role in society, and public interest in these topics.

- Across the four outlets, a total of 17,000 articles were published between
January 2020 and April 2025, an average of 264 articles per month, or 9 per day.

- Most media reports about trans people have a negative sentiment, while trans people are hardly seen in stories. When they do appear, it is as criminals or murder victims.

That's the Green's policy for Heroine too. We're agreeing on this. The Green's policy is just making it available on prescription for people who are already addicted so we can help them. The policy is *not* making Heroine generally available. You are arguing against a policy that doesn't exist.
The Heroin section of the Greens' drug policy:

DR413 Heroin is the common name for the drug diamorphine, a strong painkiller which is commonly used in medical practice in the NHS. As a recreational drug it is usually smoked, snorted or injected.

DR414 A Green government will:

a. Make heroin available on NHS prescription from medical professionals as maintenance therapy for individuals who are unable or unwilling to reduce their use
b. Introduce Overdose Prevention Centres (OPCs; see above)
c. Fund professional medical treatment for people who use heroin problematically, along with social and psychological support, to help those people to engage as fully as possible in society
d. Build in a strong development component into the opioid industry to protect the interests of traditional opium growing regions, for example by introducing direct partnerships between the UK government and opium farmers in central and south-east Asia to guarantee a sustainable income for farming communities.

"We are not at war"... Oh but, by the way, we're bringing out the warships. We're only running defense... with ships literally classed as "destroyers". This Government is a gaslighting disgrace.
Two back-to-back entries in the Guardian's live news feed. The first (read bottom to top) reads:

"Speaking in the House of Commons yesterday, Ellie Chowns called for a parliamentary vote on “any UK involvement in this war”.

“We are not at war,” Keir Starmer responded, adding: “We are not getting involved in offensive action that the US and Israel are taking.”"

The second:

"UK considering sending warship to Cyprus to defend RAF airbase

John Healey, the defence secretary, is considering sending Royal Navy destroyer HMS Duncan to Cyprus to help defend the Akrotiri RAF airbase from any future drone attacks.

Though a final decision has not been made, multiple sources said a deployment of the warship, currently in Portsmouth, was under discussion as a way to better protect the base in Cyprus.

HMS Duncan is specialised in counter drone operations and last month was engaged on a test exercise off the coast of Wales facing swarms of drones, before hosting a family day on Friday.

No major Navy warships are currently in or have been sent to the Middle East, even though the conflict is now in its fourth day, while concerns have been raised about the ease of which Akrotiri’s air defences were breached.

One drone, thought by Cypriot authorities to have been flown from Hezbollah controlled territory in Lebanon, crashed on to the runway at around midnight yesterday and two other drones were intercepted thereafter.

It would take several days for the HMS Duncan to reach Cyprus from Portsmouth as it travels at about 30 knots (34.5mph)."

Looks like the US has been granted permission to use UK bases for some strikes against Iran 😐
Keir Starmer has said he’s accepted the US request to use British bases for defensive strikes against Iranian missiles

In a video shared on social media the Prime Minster says: “Our partners in the Gulf have asked us to do more to defend them, and it’s my duty to protect British lives.

“We have British jets in the air as part of coordinated defensive operations which have already successfully intercepted Iranian strikes.

“But the only way to stop the threat is to destroy the missiles at source. In their storage depots or the launchers which are used to fire the missiles. The US has requested permission to use British bases for that specific and limited defensive purpose.

“We have taken the decision to accept this request - to prevent Iran firing missiles across the region, killing innocent civilians, putting British lives at risk and hitting countries that have not been involved.”

An excerpt from the Ammori v SSHD High Court Ruling:

"17. Elbit is a defence technology company. With its subsidiaries, Elbit operates at 16 sites in the United Kingdom. Elbit is itself a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Limited, an Israeli-based defence contractor. Elbit Systems Limited is Israel’s largest military manufacturer and is a major supplier of military equipment to the Israel Defence Forces. It is clear that Palestine Action takes its objective of “stopping Elbit” seriously and interprets it widely. Palestine Action’s direct action is directed at Elbit’s premises across the United Kingdom. It is also directed at any other company or organisation considered by Palestine Action to enable Elbit’s business in the United Kingdom. Examples include banks, insurance companies and landlords. The National Police Co- ordination Centre is a cross-constabulary organisation which provides intelligence briefings to police forces. The information provided by that organisation is that Palestine Action has undertaken 385 direct actions since 2020. In substance, “stopping Elbit” is an attempt by Palestine Action to close the company down and prevent its parent company, Elbit Systems Limited, from operating in the United Kingdom or being assisted by any other business that operates here."

"Direct Action" is highlightedAn excerpt from the Ammori v SSHD High Court Ruling:

"20. A further matter linked to this concerns Palestine Action’s finances. The claimant’s evidence refers to Palestine Action raising funds through its website, from individual Judgment Approved by the court for handing down. R(Ammori) v SSHD donations, and from selling merchandise. She gives no explanation about how those funds are used. Given the objectives of the organisation however, it is a reasonable inference that the major part of its funds are directed to supporting direct action, adding further support to the point made above, that Palestine Action’s organisation, even if “non-hierarchical”, provides direction and support to its campaign of direct action"

"Direct Action" is highlighted

Calling it now: This is going to turn into the UK's own "Mandleson Files" debacle. Just like the Epstein Files, it will be dragged on by resistance from No 10 for far longer than it should be, making the scandal larger & larger, but will eventually all come out. This is the hill Keir will fall on.
An excerpt from BBC News: Tories planning to force vote on publishing Mandelson information

The Conservatives are planning to force a vote on Peter Mandelson in the House of Commons tomorrow.

Kemi Badenoch and her team have an “opposition day” tomorrow, which means they have the ability to determine parliamentary business.

They are planning to force a vote on the government publishing more information related to Mandelson.

While a final decision has not been taken on what exact information to request, this is likely to include vetting documents from the period leading up to Mandelson’s appointment as ambassador to the US or other due diligence work conducted by the government in that period.

A vote would not necessarily be binding but could become very awkward for Labour MPs if the government tries to defeat the Conservative motion.

One senior Labour MP predicted that many of their colleagues would instinctively want to vote with the Conservatives.

It was the ruling too. Paragraph 221 explains that it can be proportionate to ban both trans men from both the male facilities, because they are assigned female at birth, AND female facilities, because they now present as male. The Supreme Court's logic could also apply to trans women.
A except from the Supreme Court Ruling on For Women Scotland vs Scottish Ministers:

"contrary, if sex means biological sex, then provided it is proportionate, the female only nature of the service would engage paragraph 27 and would permit the exclusion of all males including males living in the female gender regardless of GRC status. Moreover, women living in the male gender could also be excluded under paragraph 28 without this
amounting to gender reassignment discrimination. This might be considered proportionate where reasonable objection is taken to their presence, for example, because the gender reassignment process has given them a masculine appearance or attributes to
which reasonable objection might be taken in the context of the women-only service being provided. Their exclusion would amount to unlawful gender reassignment discrimination not sex discrimination absent this exception".

In order to make a connection to the Three Arrows symbol, one would have to seemingly arbitrarily ignore the first two of these arrows & then rotate the remaining three. This isn't journalism. It's conspiracy theory quackery. The BBC should issue a retraction & an apology for this absurdity. /5

The BBC should be utterly ashamed of this reporting. In their coverage of the Charlie Kirk developments, they have authoritatively stated that the casings "included references to the Antifa, or the anti-fascist, movement". This coverage is not only absurd, it is highly damaging. A 🧵 /1
A piece from BBC News by Mike Wedling.

"Bullet casing inscriptions give possible motive.

The markings on the bullets described by authorities indicate that the suspect, Tyler Robinson, was steeped in online culture and included references to the Antifa, or the anti-fascist, movement.

A fired shell casing was inscribed with “notices bulges OwO what’s this?” - a reference to a “copypasta” - a piece of text that is repeated over and over again, often to troll people online.

Authorities say one unfired casing had the words “Hey fascist! Catch!” and an up, right and three down arrows. The three down arrows alone could be a common symbol used to represent the anti-fascist movement. As a whole, the sequence of arrows could reference a gaming cheat code - although this remains unclear, and authorities have not yet released images of the casings.

A second casing had the lyrics to a song “Bella Ciao” inscribed on it. The song honours WWII-era partisans of the Italian resistance who fought Nazi Germany.

The third unfired casing was inscribed with the words “If you read this, you are gay lmao” - again an apparent reference to online trolling humour.

Antifa is a loose collection of far-left activists who have been active in the US over the last decade, at street protests and other events.

They often oppose Trump's policies and far-right groups."
