Sandra Yannone MFA ‘91 released her newest poetry collection FIRE AT THE BIG TOP this past June. The book offers a variety of poems that showcase sexual love which fellow poets have described as electrifying and page-turning. We are very happy to see Sandra add to her collection. Congratulations!

Kenan Orhan MFA ‘18 released his first novel, THE RENOVATION, in February 2026. The political fiction has now been longlisted for the Booker Prize. We could not be any prouder and our fingers will stay crossed until the results come out in November.

Assistant Professor Tristan Raines was the Costume Director for HAIRSPRAY at the Tony Award winning theatre The Muny, as well as for DRACULA: A COMEDY OF TERRORS at the Blumenthal Arts Center. He is also working on Wardrobe and Hair Design for FOREVER KPOP: NATIONAL TOUR. We couldn’t be prouder.

Natalie Lemle’s ‘24 debut novel ARTIFACTS hit the shelves in May and we are proud to see the success it has had. The literary fiction mystery dives into the world of stolen arts and artifacts and the hidden links between museums and organized crime. We recommend you give it a read!

The PEN Open Book Award recognizes an exceptional book-length work of any literary genre by an author of color. Asako Serizawa, MFA ’01 was one of the judges this year! Announced this week, the award went to Justin Haynes for IBIS, a Caribbean story of migration, superstition, and search for family.

WLP Assistant Professor Porsha Olayiwola is known for her poetry, performances, and writing. What you may not know is that she served as Boston’s third Poet Laureate. Her poems are what led Boston Mayor Michelle Wu to declare January 23rd as Porsha Olayiwola Day in Boston. We couldn’t be prouder!
