It'd take about a century or so to hit public domain after that, though. It'd be neat and hilarious if the Sonic fandom is still going in the 2150s or whatever, though.

"AI can replace people whose existence I don't respect or understand" has been the recurring theme through much of the hype, yeah. Though in my case, it's been proven true, because the Trump administration has outsourced their bullshit generation to AI and it's definitely better at it.

It's not the most urgent problem in the world, but it sure would be nice if Wizards of the Coast went ahead and released the entire D&D 3.5 and d20 Modern SRDs into Creative Commons, unmodified and unredacted. You know, before we have to remind them why they had to do that for the 5e SRD.

You know how the mutagen fell into the sewer and made the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Master Splinter what they are? Well, some of it also merged with some sewage and an empty suit and created this guy. He's sorta like that murderous leech cop from the old TMNT comic, except more disgusting.

(Nobody should trust me as some kind of political genius or anything. I'm just saying, pretty sure that nearly everyone knows more than someone who clearly can't even explain the difference between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.)

(Being trans means you likely know more about trans medicine and trans politics than average. But that's not the same as each of us being an infallible genius on how legislation and social change works any more than it means each of us can expertly perform gender-affirming surgery.)

(Also, I am not saying that there is never a situation that calls for strategic voting, political brinkmanship as part of negotiations, or things like that. I'm saying that the people talking about this specific thing don't know how to do any of that stuff and this is all about vibes for them.)

tl;dr: Any trans person telling you not to vote for Talarico etc is doing the equivalent of talking about how they're refusing treatment for life-threatening illnesses and eating ivermectin instead. Maybe they believe it, but they're hurting themselves and anyone foolish enough to do the same.

And finally, because there's a tendency for these sorts of people to portray themselves as lefter-than-thou and everyone else as right-wing, I'm going to say this outright. If you suppress left-wing votes like this, you are a right-wing fascist with extra steps and you should be judged accordingly.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
People who care about transgender people are not going to vote against our rights because JK Rowling asks them to do it, but they absolutely might because they're told to do it by particularly foolish loudmouths who are true believers in a literally suicidal strategy that has never worked, ever.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Every single transgender person who is encouraging anyone not to vote for the less transphobic option right now is actively participating in oppression of all transgender people. Doing it out of stupidity is not as immoral as doing it out of deliberate malice, but the effects can actually be worse.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
If you do not do what you can to keep Republicans out of power right now, and you actively tell other people not to vote either, you are killing transgender Americans. While I say there's no wrong way to be transgender, pulling a Milo Y and empowering the people who want you dead is an exception.

If the Pigfarts lady just shut her mouth and instead funded people like this, she'd be even more dangerous to us. Anyone who tells voters to let Republicans take power without opposition because Democrats are "just as bad" on trans rights is contributing to the deaths of trans people.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Like, I'm not one for conspiracy theories and I don't credit the transphobes with this level of clever thinking skills, but if I were a transphobe, I'd make sure to support these self-destructive idiots who try to lead other trans people off a cliff just to feel important.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Lots of cultures correctively think that trans people are supernatural, but we're only supernatural in that we have a curse. The curse that only the absolute stupidest of us usually ever get our voices heard. Only possible explanation for this idiot, Caitlyn Jenner, and many others.

I really should get tired of this joke, but it keeps being funny. Probably because I'm imagining some very angry guys screaming about how you're getting things wrong and don't know nerd culture without either checking your name or recognizing it. You're the best troll on the internet and I love it.

Yeah, happens to everyone. I remember the first time I got carried away, gave two of those salutes to my boss, and then signed away the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Really, what person hasn't accidentally caused the deaths of more people than DC Comics' Joker?

Yeah, came here to see if anyone else had said it. Rawstory either misunderstood or deliberately mislead people with this one. He's awful and he wants the Senate to work 7 days a week on Trump's awful agenda, but not that Americans should work 7 days a week.

I think the biggest contribution is the way it helped make bullet points more popular in RPG rules. I'm not kidding. So many RPGs come across completely differently and much more clearly and memorably with bullet points than the exact same text would be as a paragraph.

Ad Astra Games learned about in-house Print-on-Demand publishing from Timeline Ltd's new owners when they reprinted The Morrow Project. I knew of a new kind of laser printer with lower costs-per-click. We shared what we knew with Amarillo Design Bureau, who adopted the process post-haste.

My minimal situation to consider travel like that would be: 1) No evidence of unreasonable Canada/US border incidents within the past couple months. 2) No specific signs of upcoming serious US/NATO military conflicts. 3) Not going to a city occupied by CBP/ICE.
000
Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 25/01/2026
Abolishing and prosecuting ICE and purging CBP would be great, but can't be done by just threatening a shutdown or defunding DHS. Need overwhelming Democratic power, which is hard under ideal circumstances and way less likely under Schumer.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 25/01/2026
Unfortunately, the OBBA gave ICE a huge emergency fund, so they could last quite a while without DHS funding. Best options are probably serious restrictions on ICE and CBP, removal of Miller and Bongino and Noem, outlawing tear gas and pepper spray, banning ICE/CBP firearm carrying in cities, etc.

It got quietly removed at some point within the past 6-12 hours, so apparently the point of order wasn't needed? Awful bill, will hurt lots of folks, but doesn't single us out now. This article has a link to the final version of the Senate bill after the vote-a-rama. www.reddit.com/r/transgende...

Also, Ron Wyden or someone else will bring up a point of order here. Things are definitely being done. It just doesn't get reported on because the news would rather post half-assed vague summaries of today's vote than bother looking into any procedural specifics.

They aren't. They're trying a 60 vote majority to get around the Byrd Rule, which isn't part of the Constitution, and it's legal to do that but also very unlikely to work. GOP are just trying to force a vote because they wrongly think later transphobic pandering will save their seats.

Cannot stress enough that this is a pitiful action by a weak, scared, pathetic group of insecure, wannabe authoritarians, and they should be mocked until the end of time for wanting to bring in the military over some people protesting them at a Home Depot.

I remember. They've had a lot of changeover in leadership since that time, and they might not screw it up this time, but I'm not going to make any bets. Video game companies don't usually understand or properly value tabletop properties (or their consumers).

You know, even without the Street Fighter license, it'd be pretty easy to make a new tournament fighting game genre setting with very similar rules. A ton of the SFRPG content was original White Wolf stuff, anyway. (Like basically all of Player's Guide and its elementals, cyborgs, mutants, styles)

A more competent administration would have taken it slowly, built power, and given conservative courts as much justification as possible to approve their schemes. Then we'd be in more danger. But fascism isn't associated with competence.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
It's basically a race to save as many people as possible and limit the damage he can do before his power collapses completely. And it's depressing and stressful and infuriating. A moral injury. But the court rulings absolutely do matter, is my point.
191
Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
Yeah. I think they will hurt a LOT of people before this is said and done. But that's different from the Bluesky doomer thing where Trump just acts like a dictator and rules by decree and the courts are powerless. The courts are weakened, but still quite powerful.
130
Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
So he's been complying with most of the orders and whining about it, and just testing the limits of his powers by trying to use obscure rules and claims of state department authority to get around courts. It's petty and stupid and harmful, but it doesn't mean he can just ignore any court order.
062
Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
The more court orders go against him, the less legitimate his regime. Combine that with low approval ratings and governors and others start feeling way more comfortable defying him in the confidence that he simply won't be able to get the military to do anything about it.
163
Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
He's had to comply with the overwhelming majority of court orders. He can get away with violating the human rights of immigrants because this nation is sociopathic at its heart, but he has a limited amount of credit to spend and he's already running lower on legal resources and SCOTUS patience.
111
Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
I am extremely upset about their violation of these people's human rights and sometimes wake up from sleep stressing over it (sounds melodramatic but I have PTSD and stuff that makes me sympathetic.) But Trump would be doing this to hundreds of times as many people if he could just ignore the court
211
Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
They're trying to argue that technically, they didn't violate the order. They definitely are, but federal court normally moves at a glacial pace and stalling for a few months while nitpicking isn't unprecedented. The plane from Qatar is unethical, but not a violation of any court order.

You'd be great at it, too, definitely. It'd be different from Rose, but also great stuff.

Emerald Zeea @emeraldzeea.bsky.social · 23/05/2025
Rose is basically the platonic ideal of the WoD tabletop developer, yeah. Give her complete authority and automatic approval for projects and she'd deliver the best WoD ever made.

It seems like they mostly pushed away from that mistake, so maybe they've learned better by now. It would definitely be great to have a win in the "gaming corporation" department.

I've heard Wizards of the Coast's recent scandals (OGL, failed VTT) blamed on video game execs not understanding the hobby or the industry. Paradox tried to get someone they thought understood, but they got a loud-talking self-promoting creep because they didn't know enough to spot his flaws.
