These aren't necessarily my top nine favorite series (although most of them are in that range). More like my top nine fandoms (in no particular order). #my9animes

Ordered some books from Barnes & Noble a couple of days ago. Total? $66.00 exactly. Just ordered some Sailor Moon merch from BoxLunch. Total? $87.00 exactly What are the freaking chances?

Ignoring some newer shows that might get a physical release... Medalist, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts, and Sailor Moon Eternal/Cosmos movies are probably on my most wanted list.

Also, Maksym Spodyriev coming back after a quad to skate for Egypt has to be one of the most random country switches I’ve seen! 😂 It’s cool that Egypt has an ice dance team, though. If they get their tech mins, maybe there will actually be four continents represented at 4CC!

Some interesting GP assignments! I’m surprised but not to see Jason seems to be sticking around for at least one more season. I’m sure he wants to go out on a better note than that disastrous free at Nationals, and doing the GP means he’ll have a bye.

We have an update from Dr. Love in the ANN forums:

Note, this message includes references to previously asked questions in the forum. Go to the ANN forum to read the full forum thread.
Post from user aware.o.vacuity:
"Hello, Dr. Love here. Thanks for everyone's thoughtful responses to Erica's writeup of my interview! This is my very first forum post on ANN, so apologies if my etiquette is poor. Quick answers to questions above: Gina, I love Dr. Stone, Planetes, and Space Brothers. Especially the last, since it's so well researched. Also I talked with the mangaka for an hour and a half when he visited Houston years ago and he seems to have named his character George Love after me. I haven't seen Irina. Juno016, thank you for sharing the lovely sentiment. Tunod, virtual fist-bump for Diebuster appreciation. The scene on my car, where Nono awakens as Buster Machine #7 (and discovers that the thing she longed to become, she always was) is my favorite in all of anime. I just love that message. mdo7, I think the message is that anime touches lives everywhere, and all fans want to share their experiences. Omoikane, fist-bump for Nadesico appreciation (deadpan child-genius Ruri, the most mature person on the crew, is my fave.) I showed my car at Houston Comicpalooza's itasha showdown last year and won a trophy for best electric car! (OK, it was the *only* electric car. But a win's a win.) L-S-M-F-T, pray-hands thanks for the congrats. The missing element is Toughness. Shame on me for missing it when put on the spot. All, be excellent to each other and party on."

Just got back from seeing Stars on Ice in Allen (or Amberland, as Jason(?) dubbed it 😂) and it was AWESOME! I can die happy because I finally got to see Jason Brown skate in person, and he was just as incredible as I imagined.

Lovely to see Gilles/Poirier’s Wuthering Heights free dance one more time, although I can’t help but feel like bringing it back after only a few weeks of practice was like giving up on winning the gold before the competition even began.

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

Gah, I really do feel for Fear/Gibson. To come back from the disappointment of the Olympics to skate great at Worlds, only to lose out on the podium due to the panel calling one of their lifts illegal… However, doing those overhead lifts is always going to be a risk, no matter how cool they may be.

100

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

And now (somewhat of a) surprise bronze #3, Zingas/Kolesnik! (I had a feeling they would, though!) It’s a shame there’s some controversy concerning F/G’s lift, so it’s not a clear-cut result, but it was a fabulous free dance, and I’m so happy for them! #WorldFigure

Lopareva/Brissaud’s Bjork free dance has really grown on me though out the season! Love the opening stationary lift. So cool! #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

Amazing that Smart/Dieck once again win a small medal at Worlds — this time silver! Their awesome Dune free dances have been so iconic with some of the coolest lifts, but I’m curious to see if they can bring that creativity into a non-Dune program next season. #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

Man, if that costume deduction for the petal falling off Christina’s dress had cost the U.S. the third spot… Luckily, it didn’t matter in the end, but it still sucks that Carreira/Ponomarenko would have placed higher without it, just .1 behind R/A. Stunning dance! #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

Lajoie/Lagha’s White Crow free dance mesmerizes me every time I see it! 😍 I’m so glad they brought it back, even if the judges didn’t give it the love it deserves. Seriously, only 118? Gah, I can’t wait for them to take over as Canada’s top team. #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

I don’t know if Reed/Ambrulevicius plan to continue, but if that was their final competitive skate, they’re leaving on a high note! I love the entrance into the twizzles with her going in between his legs. #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

Davis/Smolkin’s free dance really is one of the best choreographed dances of the season. It helps show off how much they really have improved. Good job! #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

So nice to see Green/Parsons’ cool Greek mythology free dance (and their gorgeous costumes!) one more time! Michael was a little off unison in the first twizzle, but overall a really good skate for coming in as an alternate. #WorldFigure

Redemption for Ilia Malinin! You can tell how much that skate meant to him. Only(!) five quads and no quad axel (despite what the tech box said!), but more than enough to win his 3rd world title! #WorldFigure

010

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

Another beautiful yet messy free skate for Adam Siao Him Fa, but better than the Olympics at least, and he and Kevin manage to keep 3 spots for France! #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

(Aw, they chacked Alexandr Selevko? Oh, well, good for him finally getting a second spot for Estonia so he and his brother can both go to Worlds next year!)

000

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

No surprise bronze medalist in the men’s event (although I stupidly took him off my predictions due to bad practices 😂), but Shun Sato does it again! Though I wasn’t too concerned about Japan’s spots after Kao failed to make the free, it wasn’t a done deal, so what a relief!

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

Another great skate from Stephen Gogolev, and Canada finally has their second men’s spot back — good job! #WorldFigure

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

CLEAN YUMADOT! We’ve been waiting all season for this skate from Yuma Kagiyama! Too bad it didn’t happen at the Olympics, but at least we finally got it. Fantastic job! #WorldFigure

020

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

Well, it wasn’t Andrew Torgashev’s best free skate, but not a total disaster like his previous Worlds appearances have been, so progress. Though Jacob’s 12th and Ilia’s win would have been enough to keep 3 spots, it was nice for Ilia to have a little cushion. #WorldFigure

000

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

Yay, Jacob Sanchez! Too bad about the popped second 3A and the small stumble, but the rest of that skate was great, and 12th at his first senior Worlds is very respectable, especially when coming in last minute as 3rd alternate. Great job! #WorldFigure

000

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 29/03/2026

Tonight, I caught up with USA's coverage of the men's free. They didn't show as many free skates as I hoped they would (especially since we got the last two groups of women and about the same amount for pairs), but still, thoughts to follow!

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 28/03/2026

KAORI SAKAMOTO, 4X WORLD CHAMPION! What a skate to end her competitive career! I especially loved the kiss she blew right before the final loop. Farewell, Kaori, and I’m sure you’ll be a wonderful coach! #WorldFigure

020

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 28/03/2026

Other than the small step out on the 3 jump combo, that was a wonderful free skate from Mone Chiba to win the silver! A great way to end her season after the disappointment of just barely missing the podium at the Olympics. Great job! #WorldFigure

000

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 28/03/2026

No! A medal was very much for the taking for Amber Glenn, and she started out so strong, but her old habit of losing focus in the middle came back. Oh, well, considering she was really sick after the Olympics, 6th isn’t that bad, and she saved the three spots for the U.S. women! #WorldFigure

000

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 28/03/2026

I love that Isabeau Levito has decided to bring back her 3Lz-3l combo. Unfortunately, the loop was very UR this time, but I really hope she keeps it. Otherwise, a gorgeous free, and 4th is very much a redemption from her disappointing Olympic finish — great job! #WorldFigure

000

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 28/03/2026

First we got P/M, and now we have Nina Pinzarrone as the second surprise bronze medalist — how fun! Who would have thought Belgium would have a second World medalist this quad? Stunning free from Nina, and what a fabulous comeback from her earlier injury! #WorldFigure

001

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 28/03/2026

A really good skate for Anastasia Gubanova, but rotation did start to get iffy in the second half. Considering how long her season has been having to qualify her Olympic spot, it’s not too surprising that she’s tired! #WorldFigure

000

Pearl @elysiondream.bsky.social · 28/03/2026

Fantastic SharkNaki from Lara Naki Gutmann! Just a minor error on the 3Lz. I’m gonna miss this program, but I’m also really excited to see what she brings us next season! #WorldFigure
