wow, cool! Do the females hunt for the male while incubating? Do they come back when the chicks are born? I guess I'm going to have to research Phalaropes. They are really interesting!

I'm great with raptors, only some small birds, and very little with shorebirds! In raptors, females are always larger than males (reversed sexual dimorphism). I didn't know that was also true in some non-raptor species. Thanks for the info. I'm always learning.

I backpacked thru Mexico, Central and S.America for a yr. Sometimes by myself or traveled with different people. In Peru, I met a missionary, & we went to visit her house deep in the jungle. We got there via dugout canoe, staying w/ tribes and other peoples along the way. Not tourist oriented!

I was in the Amazon jungle with a tribe. They eat monkey for dinner. Crocodile as well (I went on a hunt with them). lol, both taste like chicken!😂

21 porters!! Great for employment! Back when I did it, there were no companies or reservations. We just hiked in ourselves, carrying our own packs, (which enabled us to sleep in the ruins). Over the years, that probably got out of hand, hence the requirement of needing guides. Good thing to protect
