The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

I forgot that my very favorite part of watching Ducks games is listening to Lindsay Imber on the organ! She's an extremely cool, classically trained, queer nerd, so her song choices are lots of fun and often super unexpected. She was just playing "Gangsta's Paradise" on the organ, because why not?

Recently I was telling a guy that the NHL is the only men’s pro sport I follow because hockey is amazing, but that it’s hard because I hate the way sexual assault gets covered up and ignored. He was dismissive, saying “Sure, but that’s all (men’s) leagues.” Yeah, dude. That’s the fucking problem!

It feels important that we’re able to collectively mourn and celebrate Dolly. Seeing stories about her impact on so many strangers has brought me to tears over and over today, for which I’m extremely grateful. Reminders of the best of our shared humanity don’t always feel accessible these days.
