Scientists have found a pond so saturated with salt that nothing we know should survive in it—yet life does.

Jezero Crater, Mars, seen on 27 July 2026. There is nothing—and I emphasise nothing—we humans could do to Earth that would make it less hospitable than Mars. So should we send astronauts there? Yes! Absolutely! But we will never colonise Mars, nor should we.
A cold, dead planet.

I think this means the lab missed me.
Text at the top of the image says, "Organic Geochemistry PhD Students". Below the text are five people outdoors, standing in a strange position with arms out and downwards. The person in the center is a poorly photoshopped head of the author with a stick figure body.

There is a 20 km high cliff on Uranus' moon, Miranda. Because of the low gravity, if you jumped off it, it would take 12 minutes to reach the bottom. Image credit: JPL/NASA

Jeremy Hansen will be the first non-American to fly to the moon — and will make Canada only the second country in the world to send an astronaut into deep space.

Noémie Carlot presented an absolutely stunning map of Eberswalde delta fan, Mars. Look at all those lobes showing channel migration! The river sediments were more resistant to erosion than the surrounding layers, creating intricate inverted channels. #EPSCDPS2025 #Mars doi.org/10.5194/epsc...
