For a lot of people, the biggest barrier to care is access. Our partner, Zipline, is changing that by delivering HIV testing, prevention and treatment directly to people, wherever they are. Caitlin Burton, CEO of Zipline Africa shares the impact this has had on young people.

Falling overdose rates don’t happen by accident. It happens because organization’s like Corazón show up without judgement. We supported their syringe program which helps prevent HIV and connects people to care. On #IOAD, we’re proud to celebrate the people delivering these life-saving programs

Progress has transformed what it means to live with HIV. From life-changing treatment to new prevention tools like long-acting PrEP, we have everything we need to end AIDS. But we still have work to do to make sure that testing, prevention and treatment reaches everyone, so no one is left behind.

Progress isn't just measured in breakthroughs. What does reaching people actually look like? A blood test in A&E that found 1,900 people living with undiagnosed HIV, 93% of whom had never been tested before. Free self-test kits on dating apps, where 1 in 3 users were testing for the first time.
Quote post. Text reads: “For the first time in a generation, the end of AIDS is within reach. But a breakthrough that does not reach the people who need it is not a breakthrough at all.” – Elton John

We already have the science to end HIV: better prevention, easier testing, effective treatment. What we don't have is universal access. Stigma, cost and access gaps still stand between too many people and the care that could change their lives.

Healthcare innovation should make care easier to access not put more barriers in the way. Tiko's Co-CEO, Benoit Renard, shares how the Tiko card helps youth carry their health information with them. Even without a phone or internet, they can get personalised, responsive care wherever they are.

Statement from Elton John and David Furnish on U.S. House Appropriations advancing funding for the fight against AIDS.
A statement graphic from the Elton John AIDS Foundation:

We applaud the U.S. House Appropriations Committee for providing billions of dollars in 2027 for the fight against AIDS around the world.

This funding will help countries gradually take over and run their own HIV programs, while also supporting the important work of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

As the process moves forward in the Senate, we hope that additional resources can be found to ensure the U.S. pledge to the Global Fund of $4.6 billion over three years is reached on an annual basis.

We also hope immediate ‘bridge’ funding will be sent to the front lines to help keep people alive while new agreements with partner countries are finalized.

Restricting access to this treatment is not only harmful to individuals but also counterproductive to public health here in the UK and abroad. Denying HIV care would put lives at risk and lead to more transmissions in the UK, not fewer.

HIV treatment is one of medicine’s great success stories. A single pill a day allows people living with HIV to lead long, healthy lives and eliminates the risk of passing the virus on.

A future free from AIDS must also be a future built on gender equality. As #InternationalWomensDay approaches, we’re highlighting the urgent need to center women and girls in the global HIV response and to confront the inequalities that continue to shape the epidemic.
Photo of Anne Aslett with three young women. Quote reads: "Women and girls are not inherently more vulnerable to HIV; inequality puts them at risk.

Gender-based violence, barriers to education and healthcare, poverty and stigma all drive that vulnerability.

If we are serious about ending AIDS, we must dismantle the structural barriers that continue to endanger women and girls." - Anne Aslett
