Kind of a buried lede in the results of this Supreme Court approval rating poll from Marquette: Overall support for Supreme Court expansion, which even Democratic politicians were dismissing as "radical" just a few years ago, is now at 53 percent today.marquette.edu/2026/09/marq...

The consequences of Trump's rampage against democracy and decency are so obvious that ordinary Americans might even notice despite the Prestige Press' malfeasance. It'd be nice if more Democrats pointed it out instead of hammering "affordability."

Any sweeping systemic change you want to make in the United States has to begin with adding seats to the Supreme Court in 2029. No major reform bill will survive the current court. No civil rights law, no anti-corruption law, no wealth tax, nothing.

Please don't overreact to Roberts Court decision on the contemplated USPS ballot moves They simply held that the injunction came too early in the process, before there was a final rule👇 Now we HAVE a final rule & we will litigate it. I'm as confident in our arguments here as in any of our cases!

Many stories have conveyed how crass and insulting Trump's "speech" last night was. Few have conveyed how literally insane he sounded. Long, LONG disquisition on The Ballroom, complete with "Sir" stories. Claim that 450k people came to hear him on July 4. Iran has no remaining weapons. WHCA: Why??

Let everybody run in the primaries, once midterms are done. That's what primaries are for. (Eg, nearly 30 "plausible" Dem contenders at start of 2020; early favorites almost never win.) Meanwhile, reminder to reporters: MIDTERM MIDTERMS MIDTERMS. Stop asking about 2028. Eyes on the prize.

It is such a pivotal moment. Plenty of times where people say oh you cld be brave, you cld take a stand. But take a stand and get wiped out, corker, flake, cheney. But that was that critical 2 or 3 weeks where Trump was alone and on the ropes. Conviction ends him. It was very doable.

This is exactly true. Democrats - and all Americans - have to face the fact that the Supreme Court has hardly ever been an agent of positive change. And now, especially, it is an agent of negative change. Expand the Supreme Court and limit its members' terms and authority.

here is what i think: we're not consumers or spectators, we are participants with agency. you should not hope that democrats will do anything. you must work to force them to do the right thing. the odds are long, but we are far from the first americans to face long odds. we will win.

Notably, FOUR justices would have rewritten the Constitution by fiat. Kavanaugh only concurred because he thinks the law Congress passed in the 1950s granting birthright citizenship governs the case, but he thinks Congress could eliminate birthright citizenship along Trump's lines if they wanted.
SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES No. 25–365 DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, ET AL., PETITIONERS v. BARBARA, ET AL. ON WRIT OF CERTIORARI BEFORE JUDGMENT TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FIRST CIRCUIT [June 30, 2026] JUSTICE KAVANAUGH, concurring in the judgment and dissenting in part. Executive Order No. 14160 establishes new exceptions to birthright citizenship for children born to foreign citizens unlawfully or temporarily in the country. 90 Fed. Reg. 8449 (2025). The Court today holds that the Order violates the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. I respectfully disagree with the Court’s constitutional holding. In my view, the Executive Order does not violate the Fourteenth Amendment. But the Order does contravene a federal statute, 8 U. S. C. §1401(a). Congress could—consistent with the Fourteenth Amendment—amend §1401(a) or otherwise enact new legislation establishing exceptions to birthright citizenship for children born to foreign citizens unlawfully or temporarily in the country. But Congress has not yet done so.

Re-upping to ask: Conley & supporters say again and again that she is the only candidate who can beat Lawler. Neither she, nor they, point to any reasons why. Specifically, *why*? Not a rhetorical question. Given Davidson's experience, community ties & accomplishments, it's sure not obvious.

I think the reason AI propagandists are so flustered by the fact that no real writer wants to use their idiotic tools is that they themselves don't enjoy writing. They see it as a boring arduous chore to be avoided, while real writers actually enjoy writing and actually care about the quality of it.
