Super interesting video about how various language deal with time and tense! www.youtube.com/watch?v=st5j... It actually made use reconsider our symbols for the tenses. Thanks, @pbs.org's Storied - Other Words!

Had a fully packed event-ful day in Amsterdam! First stop: the long awaited @indieshowcasenl.bsky.social, showing a diverse line-up of local/European indie games + a special Rusty Lake exhibition which attracted a lot of my fellow Chinese players. I hope the next edition comes back sooner!

Eloquence is no longer developed by Multiverse Narratives! That name is used for narrative design services (B2B). Also using it for my own projects (B2C) causes confusion. So, I started a new studio! Blue North Games delivers games that bring innovation to the intersection of narrative and gameplay

Aside from the language, the client project unfortunately never materialized beyond tech tests and concept art. It was cancelled. Fortunately, Gerben was allowed to extract the rights to the language concept. He uses it as the basis for a new project: Eloquence. Art by @samma-art.bsky.social

The paper prototype validates the concept! New symbols are made in a bespoke tool on a 24x24 pixels canvas, featuring syntax support. About 50 symbols are created and tested via short stories in Google Forms. Players consistently enjoy engaging with the symbols and language. #indiegame #linguistics

4 phrases made in the first digital versions of the Eloquence symbols

In 2016, a client asks @multiverse.bsky.social to create a narrative for their game without using any language, words, or numbers. After first considering environmental storytelling, Gerben conducts an experiment: can we tell stories using only emojis? He makes a paper prototype #indiegame #language
