So here is a thing, I'm going on a tour to witter about my book to real people! The first few are nice and local, before I get to go hang out with @catjarman.bsky.social at Althorp Lit Fest. Come and say hi!
A poster for the book 'Widerlands'. It is a dark grey graphic of an irregularly coursed stone wall, with a green engraving of a stag peering around it. The text says: Wilderlands, on tour with Eloise Kane. There is a picture of me in the bottom right hand corner, I have brown curly hair. Anyway the dates for the tour are listed on the poster: 22 April Corsham Bookshop, Wiltshire; 24 April Folde Bookshop, Dorset; 28 April Waterstones, Bath; 5 May Heron Books, Bristol; 8 May Althorp Literary Festival; 14 May Hatchards, Cheltenham; 16 May Restoring Nature Literary Festival; 28 May Wild Fungarium, Edinburgh; 29 May The Book Nook, Stirling; 25 June Chalke History Festival; 9 September Script Haven, Worcester; + more dates to be announced.

I recorded the audio version of my book recently. It was fun! Great way to just engage with the book before publication. Except for the peppering of errors we found that are too late to correct, including one where I'd creatively renamed Fatsia japonica to something entirely random. Oops 😬 #booksky
An iPad sits on a lectern in a sound-proof room, a microphone and mic shield hangs above it. In the background is the glass panel looking through to where the producer would sit. The iPad has the title page for chapter six on it. It simply says '6 Protection (1800-Present)'.

Slovenia might actually be the most beautiful place I've ever visited.
A crystal clear, wide but shallow river with a light blue hue curves from the foreground to the right and into a valley. The sides of the valley are mostly coniferous, a dark green, with some lighter green trees. The shore of the river is covered in white rock. In the background, a craggy mountain rises, grey and bare of trees along the top.

Peak folk horror season is loading 👏
Close up shot of pale ears of wheat in a field soon to be harvested. All creams and beige, some stooping over.

It rained today, lit the spooky season candles to celebrate 🙌

Cocktails and one of the girls' Christmas presents, like DnD-lite!
A table of candles and printed maps, an open book with quest info on it. A man in the background is looking through a big book. An orange cocktail in a small glass sits in the foreground.

My home for the weekend is a late medieval manor with detached kitchen, set around a courtyard with a little-altered pentice 🥰 Happy birthday/Christmas to meeeeeee! I've told my 10yo it's not haunted but it definitely is 😬👻
A very dark scene with an old house with windows glowing orange in the night, with a stone porch.A medieval dining room with long oak table and benches, looking down the table towards an unlit stone fireplace with wood floor joists above and a flagstone floor.

It was a perfect day to view things through the ears of a big cob.
The photo is taken from on top of a horse. The camera looks down the horse's neck with very long white mane to between two black ears. Beyond is a grass and mud country track with hedges either side and bare twisty oak branches sticking out. It is sunny and the sky is a bright but pale blue.

Spoilers! A series of small walls.
A black and white plan of the footprint of medieval buildings at Clarendon Palace. There are two courtyards evident as black spaces and a range of buildings. Superimposed are the outlines of two archaeological trenches and just visible are the outlines, in red, of some buried features that were uncovered. Some of these line up with the plan, indicating buildings that were previously unknown.

No trip to Bath is complete without visiting the Temple of Books that is Toppings 😍
Two children and a woman from behind approaching a 19th century building with columns that looks like a classical temple. There are blue rimmed black signs advertising events attached to black metal railings and a blue door is open.

Survived with this beast's protection which amounted to staring into the distance while I caught up.
A lurcher/sighthound dog with tan body and black face and a very floody tail stands on a grassy track looking across fields. On the low horizon is a leafless wood, and there is a lot of grey sky above.

I am doing what I'm supposed to be doing; here is some 900-year-old charred hazelnut shell from Clarendon Palace that we had dated to the 11th or early 12th century, probably pre-dating the bulk of palace buildings 🏰
The corner and two sides of a square black plastic scale with notches indicating millimetres and centimetres, on a white background. On the inner edge is a fragment of charred hazelnut shell, measuring around 6mm by 5mm,

Are there enough zooarchs here yet to get species ID on this please? 😁 Medieval southern Britain, for context.

I feel I need to mark the absolutely surreal way my Wednesday has started but can say nothing about why so here is a picture of Mr Eggy, who is doing really well after his first haircut.
A partial eggshell has been placed in a duck shaped egg cup on a sunny window ledge. There is grass growing out of it and scissors can be seen trimming the top of the grass. There is a smiley face drawn on the eggshell. A glass filled with water and baby spider plants can be seen in the background.
