This one didn't make it into the cape article because we couldn't agree if a "how to earn it" blurb saying "visit www.minecraft.net/mojang-caree... was funny or mean. 😅 But if you see one of these in Dungeons II matchmaking, you've stumbled across a Mojang employee!

Hopefully people enjoyed Minecraft Live this weekend! We showed plenty of gameplay from Minecraft Dungeons II in new dimension The Sift, along with other fun Minecraft news. We’re launching in just a few days (Sept 29), and I am very proud of the game we’ve put together. I hope you’ll like it!

I am so hyped that we managed to contain news of a new dimension in both games successfully for so long. It still feels crazy to be able to say “Sift” and not the codename we drilled into people. Much of the extended Dungeons team didn’t even know it was a codename, it was so secret. 🤫

Hope folks enjoyed #MinecraftLive. So pumped that we finally revealed that we are bringing the Sift to Vanilla Minecraft. We have been working so hard to make this a reality and being able to share with the world a new dimension is coming to Vanilla is so exciting!

No one wants too many spoilers, but everyone is genuinely so curious about the 26.4 drop. I’d like to ask: if you had to sum up the next game drop in one single sentence or just a word, what would it be? Should we lower our expectations as 26.3? @jebox.bsky.social

I stopped developing features a few years ago. The problem is that I don't have time to follow up on feedback and bug reports to see the features through. I'm still involved in everything that happens, but at "higher altitude".

Back in the day I couldn't create "real" illusions so the illusioner was put on the shelf. I don't really have a preference, but I suppose many of the mobs I added were more magical than physical (blaze, guardian, wither, and so on).

Well, sure, it was inspired by "hell" in a pop-cultural way. Like you would imagine it in cartoons or maybe games like DOOM, but it was not meant to have any deeper connection. It was called "Nether" on release, with some lingering data names in the code.

I made a bunch of different concepts on paper and decided to go with the one we have now. The spawning is inspired from boss spawning in Terraria.

I made the original sprite for the flower. I don't know what kind of poppy I picked, though, I just image-searched it and picked the one that looked like the ones I've seen here in Sweden, if I remember correctly.

I led the feature, and I think the first time I pitched it was maybe 3 years ago? This specific execution came together this year though. Lots of complexities involved, so I hope people enjoy it!

Hey @marc-irl.bsky.social, I don't know if this were something the team were working on already, or if you passed the community feedback to the devs and they agreed to do it, but THANKS for making some Dungeons capes for Vanilla!
