Gamescom is a demanding environment both physically and emotionally, but meeting and hanging out with industry peers and friends makes every minute being there worth it. ❤

That's Gamescom 2025 done and dusted! The reception for the trailer and playable demo of Dawn of War IV has blown me away. Looking forward to sharing more! Thanks to everyone who showed up to hang out or had kind words to share. Taking some time off now to recover, then it's back to work/war!

An absolute whirlwind of a week, attending INDIGO in Rotterdam, as well as exploring a bit of Amsterdam. Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet, catch up, or host me. Y'all are wonderful!

A fight broke out on the train I was on just now but managed to de-escalate it together with a few other folks. This specific pic of my cat ended up being the clincher for peace. She's available for diplomatic missions on request (payments in fluid treats only please).

Had a wonderful time visiting Glasgow Caledonian University to talk to their game development students about progression design, answer questions, and play their games. A huge thanks to @alanteachesthings.bsky.social for the opportunity and for being a wonderful host!

Went to a local art exhibit last night and had the good fortune of observing some newly hatched Jamiroquai headpieces before they leave the nest.

A photo of a forest at night illuminated by a trio of art installations located on the surface of a pond.

The installations are composed of a flat base, a frame made of arching pipes, and a multitude of protrusions fixed to the frame. The protrusions contain various LED lights in red, green, and primarily, blue.

The water is calm, creating a reflection that gives the illusion the installations have a second half, evoking sea urchins.

It's my theory that everyone has a fighting game gender and mine can be boiled down to "dapper old dude".

A piece of key art showing the character "Slayer" from the fighting game Guilty Gear Strive: a man wearing a charcoal pinstripe double-breasted waistcoat, white button-down shirt, and red tie.

He is posed with a pipe, a monocle, and an overcoat draped over his shoulders. The coat dissolves at the edges into bats.

A piece of key art showing the character "JP" from the fighting game Street Fighter 6: a man wearing a crimson vest and pants with a white short-sleeved shirt and cravat around his neck. He is posed with a cane and a shoulder cape.

Recently finished Andy Kelly's companion book for Alien: Isolation and it really underscored for me how systems akin to those that defined that game have gone shockingly underutilized in the decade since its debut. Keen to see what they do with the recently announced sequel! 👀

Now that he's here too, give @lukenelson.bsky.social a follow if you're interested in level design, racing, or photos that go hard like this one he took of me at A MAZE in Berlin this year.
