Happy 25th birthday to Kylie's Fever album! I know what I'll be listening to later on. The album of course spawned such classics as Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Come Into My World and Love At First Sight (fun fact: the last track on her debut album is also called Love At First Sight).
The cover for Kylie's album Fever. The image is a photo of Kylie from the side, standing against a plain white background, wearing a small white outfit with white heels, holding up a microphone, with the long cord all curled up on the floor. At the top left in grey is an angular Kylie logo, with FEVER in the bottom right, also in grey.

I see McLaren have got a new logo, and of course the ‘experts’ are out in force to say it’s shit, but to be honest I like it. That it’s based on the signage of the old McLaren family garage in New Zealand is a nice touch I think. I always thought the old one was a bit naff and dated.
A comparison of the old and new McLaren logos.

At the top is the previous one, with 'McLaren' in a thick, blocky font, the papaya-coloured speedmark just above and to the right of the 'n', with a small 'RACING' below it and aligned with the right edge of the 'n'.

At the bottom is the new one, in a wide, all-caps, fairly spaced-out sans serif font, with a smaller papaya-coloured speedmark to the right. 'RACING' is once again at the bottom and aligned to the right edge of the 'N'.

My first computer was one of these, a Commodore Plus/4. I liked it but it was frustrating that very few of the big games were available for this. We did get the excellent Saboteur at least.

Just did a quick mash-up to prove my point. Nice (IMO) looking cover, and 100% slop free. That's all they needed to do.
A crude mock-up of a cover for the book The Fifth Element A Visual Retrospective.

Credits on the cover read:

Edited by
Patrica Girod & Arnaud Grunberg

Including the complete script of the film by
Luc Besson & Robert Mark Kamen

Foreword by Joe Johnston

The main image is a (blurry, due to my crude enlargening) concept art illustration of the film's Mondoshawan aliens exiting their ship from the opening scenes of the movie.

I just grabbed something from my Plus/4 games and picked out this one. It’s just a Green Beret clone but I always liked this one though, even though you had to be pretty much pixel-perfect with the stabbing. I think I only ever got past level two once or twice. #RandomGameSaturday
A photo of the cassette case for the game Bridgehead for the C16 published by Anco. The case is one of those double-sized plastic cases and the cover art is seemingly of a WWII scene (even though the game isn’t set then). A downed German plane is at the centre of the image and a Tiger tank is at the top. An explosion is at the bottom right and a soldier is silhouetted by the blast. Some soldiers are at the bottom left.

I just had a go on the demo of the Amiga port of Sonic The Hedgehog and it’s very impressive. It genuinely feels like I’m just playing the original Mega Drive version. There’s some slowdown if you get hurt and have a lot of rings, but apart from that, it’s just as fast as the original.

It's been a while since I last bought a new album on cassette! At some point I'll have to fix one of my tape players so I can actually play it. 😆 I really like how the sleeve folds out on this one, too. @theanchoress.bsky.social

Well, I've waited this long for GTA VI, I might as well wait a bit longer and get it when Mastertronic re-release it at a budget price. 😆 (Oh, the exciting things I do with my Friday nights...)
A mock-up of a ZX Spectrum format cassette of the game Grand Theft Auto VI, as if it were released on Mastertronic's Ricochet label. The cover art is mostly white with small black polka dots covering it. At the top is a yellow box with 'SPECTRUM' in black in it, in a stretched typewriter font, with '48 · 128 · PLUS 2' in a smaller font size. At the bottom is another yellow box, with '· BY · MASTERTRONIC ·' in it, and the RICOCHET logo above that in pink comic-style lettering with a bullet flying through the middle left-to-right. Something I like to do occasionally; I can't find decent quality artwork for my music library? Eh, I'll just re-create it.
A recreation of the sleeve art for Roni Size Reprazent's EP Reasons For Sharing. The cover is mostly grey, with some faint vertical 'pin stripes' with the band's logo in the middle. At the top is a 'sticker' with the band's logo, EP title and track listing.A recreation of the label of Strata 3's single (It's Not) A Man's World. It's mostly a peachy colour, with the band name in white, and song title in black at the top left. The logo for the record label Bush is large and white towards the middle just below the 'hole', with some credits just below it and a large white box with TEST just below that.A recreation of the B-side label of a promo 12" of The Orb. It's lemon yellow, with the Orb logo towards to the top and right, with the record label logos at the right below it. The title 'blue room' and track time are at the bottom, with all the credits below that. The original label has the song title incorrectly listed as 'blueroom', and the track length as been corrected from 14.58 to 15.10. The Orb's 16-point star logo is on the left in light blue.A recreation of the cover art for the single 'Pump Up The Volume' by M|A|R|R|S. F1 had a rebrand a few years ago yet for some reason they *still* can't fix the sodding kerning in their text. Sort it out, Liberty! #F1 #Formula1 #Kerning #Typography
A photo of a monitor showing the title screen for F1’s first pre-season testing at Bahrain. The screen is showing a grey box, with a horizontal gradient getting lighter at the bottom. There’s some lighter diagonal stripes. The F1 logo is at the top in red, with PRE-SEASON TESTING 1 - BAHRAIN under that in white with a lot of spacing between the letters. A big DAY 1 in white is under that with Sakhir in red overlapping it slightly on a handwritten-style font.

With the way the text is formatted, the DAY looks a bit like DA Y due to the kerning not being correct.

What perfect album came out in the year you turned 16? It doesn't get any better than this for me. Not a single dud moment, and even the sleeve design by The Designers Republic is top-notch.
The cover art for the album U.F.Orb by The Orb.

The artwork is a computer generated image of a large, 16-point star shaped object which looks like it's in space, as there's an Earth-like planet to the bottom left of it, plus a smaller moon-like body to it's top left. There are some stars behind it, plus an orangey-coloured cloud to the bottom left of the image, with a hint of blue at the bottom right. In case you were wondering, this was created on an Amiga computer, by Phil Wolstenholme.

The album's title is displayed in large, round light blue letters with thick purple outlines. 'u' and 'f' are down the left, with 'o r b' along the bottom.

I felt like playing Mr. Scruff's classic album Keep It Unreal, which I don't think I've listened to in ages. I was thinking about having a day of revisiting a load of the old Ninja Tune stuff I used to listen to but podcasts got in the way. Maybe tomorrow... #NowPlaying #MrScruff #MusicSky
The cover art for the 10th anniversary edition of Mr. Scruff's album Keep It Unreal.

The artwork is drawn in Mr. Scruff's typical hand-drawn style with thick marker pen lines. The original cover art of a suitably scruffy, scribbly self portrait in white and green lines on a dark blue background is to the right, presented like a painting on a wall.

There are three hand-drawn rather potato-like characters at the front of the image, one wearing a top hat and suit on the left, one wearing a big chef's hat and fancy mustache in the middle and one on the right wearing a flat cap and holding a spanner. The two on the middle and left are holding a big birthday cake between them, which has ten candles on it.

At the top is 'mr. scruff - keep it unreal' enclosed in a banner design, with '10th anniversary analogue remaster edition' underneath it, and just to the left of the original cover art is a box with the following text;

'with 9 track bonus cd, containing six unreleased trans from the original studio sessions'

Having a blast from the past and am playing Public Enemy's debut album 'Yo! Bum Rush The Show'. The band themselves admit it was sounding a bit dated when it was released, but it was the first hip-hop album I bought so it'll always be a little special for me. Still got that tape, too...
The cover art for the album 'Yo! Bum Rush The Show' by Public Enemy.

The image is a photo of the band members plus the S1Ws standing in a dark room under a single light. Some are looking to the left, and some are looking down at turntables at the bottom of the image. Flavor Flav (I think!) is on the left and reaching for the turntable.

The Public Enemy logo is at the top left in yellow, with the album title at the bottom left in red. Under the title in a typewriter font in white is 'THE GOVERNMENT'S RESPONSIBLE...' repeated along the full width of the cover. There is also a parental advisory logo at the bottom right.
