iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

oc october 9: themes + symbolism one of my favorite themes i like to bake into chars is someone who thinks of themself as less worthy than most people/a non-person learning some self-worth also having very inward-facing characters learn empathy as they interact with others

digital gradient sketch of some of my ocs: knife, gossamire (butterfly wings in the back), martin darkov, tristan
gradient is a mix of blues and cyans

these 4 all have an inherent sense of "i am not really a person so my wants/needs need to be at the bottom of the ladder" that gets worked on thru story or dnd play 🙂‍↕️

as for symbolism: tristan's hair is a gradient from dark to light that foreshadowed their reclamation from shadow monster to literally imbued with light knife is named knife because they weilded a knife to kill their abuser and free themself - it was a name they could pick for themself

oc october 8: relationships i think emily & luyssious temen's relationship had some great growth - the both of them having their own hurdles to climb to meet each other in the middle as equals luy went from spineless yes-man to empowered wifeguy; emily is now master of her own fate

black and white digital sketch of my ocs, emily and luyssious temen, embracing lovingly

"human car horn" sounds like a bit from stefan on snl weekend update

after TOOOONS of self-facing guilt-tripping, luyssious gradually started to actually TALK to his wife and understand her wants/needs, is able to get her a new (sparkly) body, and they eventually have a proper wedding of their own choosing now they got 2 kids (tess and delia) c:

tl;dr -they were in an arranged marriage as teens/strangers -luy shipped off to the navy while she was pregnant -town attacked, emily got killed -luy bargains with a death dragon for her soul back (imbued in a sword) in exchange to serve as the dragon's reaper -dnd ensued

im especially pleased that emily did not get relegated to fridged wife driving the man's growth... instead she was fully invested and while she IS expressly devoted to him, she still gets to explore her own identity along the way (while also being a magic sword) (she contains multitudes ok)

darkovs are expected to train, clean, cook, hunt, and maintain their resources but also must defer to their Lumas keepers for these tasks a patriarch or matriarch will often interface with the Lumas on the family's behalf

there are 2 compounds that are known of among Martin's family, and most of those darkov families stay separate, but sometimes a member will be moved for breeding/training/discipline

when they are around 12 yrs old they are sent underground to commune with spooky spirits/ghosts/??? that will aid them in monsterkilling in various ways this is said to be bc darkovs don't have souls so these ghosties like the idea of having a new organic vessel

offspring rearing is communal, and Lumas determine the parent pairs they are not allowed to communicate with people outside the compound, not allowed to read/write, and are reared to accept they exist in service to saving mankind from monsters GLORY TO MANKIND pokemon yorHa moment

DARKOVS!!! they are monster-killing creatures(?) managed by a group called Lumas so far there have been 12 generations bred/iterated on to improve efficiency they can mold weapons out of their blood and bones, see in the dark, and take a beating (dense bones) they live in secluded compounds

went from haha wheee swords to i will do literally anything and also kill myself so my kids don't die and then died. good job peter all-rounder kind of monster killer who didn't realize the better he did the more was gonna b expected of his kids woops u fucked up pete

PEEPER DARKOV!!! 11th gen, 2nd son of Tyr ranked gold (highest) bc he wanted the girl his older bro (Aric) was going to be matched with was a goofy head empty no problems 2nd child up until hormones got his ass fathered 2 kids (Regina, Martin), died afield on Martin's 1st excursion outside

oc october 6: strengths/weaknesses darkovs were bred for nocturnal monster hunting, so they primarily function in the dark. they are confused babies in the sunlight
