I like how you also think about your professors and what they said back in university. I have the same thing, but then it’s a delicate game to balance between their opinion and your own gut feeling.

Ella Pesonen Art @ellapesonenart.bsky.social · 20/02/2026

I’ve had this happen, it’s a type of gut feeling I get! It’s usually stronger if I have been painting a lot, but if I have had a long break then it’s harder to tell.

010

Ella Pesonen Art @ellapesonenart.bsky.social · 20/02/2026

I’ve also had to practice this. I would keep working on the details forever if I don’t stop myself! 🙃

How do you know an artwork is done? I’ve learned that I need to declare them done, otherwise they just sit in my unfinished paintings pile forever. 🙈 Full vlog: bit.ly/3OjL01Y 🔗 #art #abstractart #painting #traditionalart #abstractpainting #maalaus #taide #taidetaivas #abstract #blueskyartshow

Sorry, I’ve been MIA. I’ve been navigating a mix of low motivation and some personal life turbulence. I’m trying to be kind to myself & find even a moment here or there to paint. 🤍 Here’s a closeup of a recent WIP. #art #abstractart #painting #traditionalart #abstractpainting #maalaus #taide

Close-up of an abstract painting with sky blue, cool red, Naples yellow and Payne’s grey. There are long and short brush stroke varying in sizes. Painting by Ella Pesonen.

So many unfinished paintings! I’m also chatting about motivation and the stress of never “making it” on social media. New vlog out now! 🤍 youtu.be/WLF6GhFvGXE?... 🔗 #art #abstractart #painting #traditionalart #abstractpainting #maalaus #taide #taidetaivas #vlog #studiovlog

I agree, I have tried to soften the darkness a bit!

010

Ella Pesonen Art @ellapesonenart.bsky.social · 31/03/2025

It’s actually really comforting to hear there are others who feel the same way. Sometimes the fact that everyone is so excited for summer makes my mood even worse. Maybe feeling a bit guilty that I can’t be excited for what the majority really seems to love.

I don't know why it feels so cringey to ask for help 🙈 I think it's cuz it's art & art is seen more as only a passion. But I can't live off passion as much as I wish I could. So I hope asking for help gets easier with time. youtu.be/nprKcZX9W14 🔗 #art #abstractart #painting #studiovlog #bluesky

📣 Hey, so, I'm trying to grow my art channel. I'd love it if you could check out my vlog & leave a comment? ☺️ YT algorithm has no mercy, not much better than Meta. Hope there will be an alternative like BlueSky for YT soon... youtu.be/nprKcZX9W14 🔗 #art #abstractart #painting #studiovlog #bluesky

Ice storm sounds pretty intense! I think I like a nice boring 0C/32F winter with little to no snow 😅

120

Ella Pesonen Art @ellapesonenart.bsky.social · 31/03/2025

Whoa, that's a lot of snow! We were lucky here with not much snow this winter. As a small dog owner it can be a real pain if it's super cold and snowy (she won't want to go outside).

I just couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it earlier, but now that you mentioned the fore/background, it’s really obvious! This is why it’s so important to bounce off ideas from other artists sometimes. Thanks!! 😊

Ella Pesonen Art @ellapesonenart.bsky.social · 22/03/2025

The first picture is a bit misleading, the painting was actually created as a landscape so here is another picture. Thank you for your comments so far, I’ve gotten some great ideas that I can’t wait to try out! 🙏

Ella Pesonen Art @ellapesonenart.bsky.social · 22/03/2025

I actually created it in landscape, so the picture is a bit misleading! I agree about no clear fore/background. I got some ideas from this - great notes, thank you! 🙏🏻

What would you add to this? 🤔 It just feels like it’s not finished - I’ve been stuck on this for days now! Feels like it’s missing some uniting element. Any ideas? #art #abstractart #painting #traditionalart #abstractpainting #maalaus #taide #taidetaivas #abstract #blueskyart

Another close-up of a WIP. This one just does not want to be finished. I attached a personal story to this painting without meaning to, and it feels very limiting to the creative process. 🫥 #art #abstractart #painting #traditionalart #fineart #maalaus #thursday #taide #wip #taidetaivas #blueskyart

Close-up of an unfinished abstract painting. The colours vary from purple, red and blue to yellow. There is varying textures from smooth to ragged and a gold leaf detail in the upper right corner. Painting by Ella Pesonen.

Hi! Currently I use both. It’s not realistic for me to leave Instagram yet, but I’m definitely branching out of Meta as much as I can and don’t plan to make any other accounts there. I’m also on Mastodon/Pixelfed and Youtube.
