I also played 22.75 hours of tennis (not counting solo practice) in January. Somehow amidst all of that, I also managed to turn in a second draft of a feature (first draft was turned in NYE) and read 7 scripts, so all in all, not a bad start to the year (state of the world notwithstanding).

Movies I watched last month: - Heretic - The Trouble with Harry - Arachnophobia (a movie that traumatized me when it came out & held up well enough to make me double down on my anti-spider stance) - Wicked - Rookie of the Year (family movie night) - Babygirl - Challengers (again) #scriptsky

It was a challenging year, a weird year, a year of losses (some tough, some good, some both), a year of hard-fought wins, a year in which I learned to see myself in ways I thought I couldn’t anymore, a year for which I’ll always be grateful. Thanks for being a part of it. Happy New Year! 🎉💗

This is the kind of response that makes the scary experience of sharing this very earnest essay so very worthwhile. Thanks, @ashlazer.bsky.social (and @memoirmixtapes.bsky.social for giving it a home). 💗 www.memoirmixtapes.com/volume-12-pi...

Excited to have ASTROCHIMPS, a feature comedy co-written by @roboneill.bsky.social and myself, on this year's #OriginalsBureau2024 among so many other fabulous scripts!

Went for a walk in the woods yesterday with no headphones, like a psychopath. It was pretty great. 🍂

#currentlywatching #filmsky Nov. 1 means it's holiday rom com time! 🥰🎄 First up: WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING, which I hadn't seen in a really long time, and which remains extremely adorable. (And Bullock-Pullman chemistry was off the charts — can we get another holiday rom com with these two please??)

#CurrentlyWatching #filmsky FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S. Took my 10-year-old, & was tickled to see a number of other mother-son pairs there. And after having seen (& thoroughly enjoyed) BARBIE, OPPENHEIMER, the Eras Tour Concert movie & others, I loved that THIS is the movie got the ovation after.

We each left with a little more than we had when we started, so I’m calling it a win. (One was sick & missed out, so looks like we’ll be doing this again.)

#CurrentlyWatching #filmsky This was so sweet, and so hopeful, and just a lovely time. Gave me DAVE vibes but with a super fun (and sexy!) romance at the forefront. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a really great rom com!

I had a full conversation with a stranger cat at lunch today (& in fact shared said lunch), so I’m right there with you. And let’s be honest — it’s been a weird few YEARS at least!

Having once written a supernatural horror feature set here featuring a major storm and flooding event, this has been totally fine & I’ve had no nightmares about my own dang script at all 😅

#CurrentlyWatching #filmsky HAUNTED MANSION was a lot of fun. Really hoping it has legs, because these are the sort of live action, family-friendly, horror-adjacent films I love to see out in the world. (Would’ve been a GREAT event movie for theatres in October…)

#CurrentlyWatching #filmsky Barbenheimer complete! Both excellent. OPPENHEIMER had one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve ever experienced in a theatre, & I cried like 5 times during BARBIE (but in a good way?). Can’t remember last time I caught 2 films in theatres in the same weekend — loved it!
