Ridgeview Blanc des Blancs 2018 is a seriously good wine, and it is priced like one. It has a reputation as the ESW most capable to ageing, and it certainly will (we will see for how long!). I know it is what in the bottle that matters, but the label and bottle dress are hideous! Must try harder!

Tonight's wine, a pure Listán Negro. It will either be delicate and heavenly scented, or pongy due to a lack of Yeast Available Nitrates during fermentation. Let us hope it is the former; if it is I might write it up.

I've offered my wonderful friend @ricard67.bsky.social this choice of sweet wines for when we next meet. Rieussec 99 is beautiful now. Fargues 08 is rich and decadent. The Ge-wurst VT will not be that sweet, but should be full of the character of a top vineyard. I don't know what I want him to pick!

Toasty, but not in an oaky way. Lots of lanolin with incredible minerality. This nose is vibrant and fresh. The palate has a huge mineral grip, rich fatty textures whilst remaining lithe and limey. Incredibly long with that toastiness gripping your tongue on the finish. Bof! This is wine, already!

Drinking Torrontés. Light, tropical refreshing noise, palate has an abundance of fruit and a nice, fresh finish. Perfectly respectable, good in fact, but nothing exciting. Pretty much how I remembered Torrontés, maybe a little less mineral than the good ones. Worth twenty-something quid.
