Mainly book reviews here! I like women’s fiction, rom coms, fantasy, and an occasional memoir. Favorite author is Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Loved the idea and premise for the book. I enjoy RPGs, so I thought I’d like this one. After 40% of the way through, it was too much action for me and not enough plot or fun characters. Cockroaches and goblins galore though if that’s your thing! DNF #booksky💙📚

4.5 stars! I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did. Even though some plot points are predictable, I enjoyed learning Mabel’s story through her lenses of “then” and “now.” All characters grew on me. Not really a mystery/thriller but a fictional memoir, which is my type of genre. #booksky💙📚

Cute premise of a “Sleepless in Seattle” story, but at over 400+ pages, the book is way too long. Dialogue is spread out amongst profusely unnecessary descriptions. Characters are ok. I wanted the book to be over already. Just fall in love and be done with it. 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Booksky💙📚

TL:DR - Tries to be a romance. MMC is a dick and harasses the FMC to where I even wanted to cry. She was irritating too, but that’s no excuse for how he treats her. Idk how I lasted so long reading this book. I couldn’t take the emotional abuse anymore. Literal red flag characters 🚩 DNF #Booksky💙📚

Loved Mama Love’s memoir. Her story embraces vulnerability, courage, and empathy as an antidote to shame. I’m grateful for the author’s first hand insight into our broken justice system and how important restorative justice and rehabilitation are. 5 stars ⭐️ #bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

Heir of Fire It took me MONTHS to finish this one. Least fav so far in TOG series, but I understand it’s necessary for the next book. Some characters I didn’t care anything about but one grew on me. I did enjoy the change of worlds scenery though! Only 3⭐️ #Booksky💙📚

The Assassin’s Blade I read most of this last year after CoM but couldn’t bear to finish the last few chapters since I knew where the ending was headed. I finished those few chapters after reading HoF. I really loved the novellas. My favorite so far in the TOG series. 4⭐️ #Booksky💙📚

“Sitting Pretty” is a must-read novel where writer Rebekah Taussig shares her personal life experiences with disability and challenges the able-ist systems of our society. If you have a body, this book is for you. But also, it’s okay to read a book that doesn’t center you. 5⭐️ #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

“The Truth is in the Detours” A friends to enemies to lovers rom com. It took me a bit to visualize the main characters, but once the roadtrip started, that’s when the chemistry really began. I enjoyed all the bickering and bantering and truth telling. 3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️+ #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

“Theo of Golden” is a character study instead of a plot driven story. The beginning was lovely. I enjoyed envisioning the town and characters. The middle section dragged on and could be edited down. The elusive secrets weren’t revealed until the very rushed ending. A feel-good novel. 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #booksky

“The Shippers” by Katherine Center. Predictable rom com with shallow characters and a miscommunication trope which drags on. FMC Jojo is immature and obtuse. Her inner monologue drove me nuts. The main man Cooper is a gem but not enough for me to give this book more than 2 stars. ⭐️⭐️ #booksky💙📚

The All Souls trilogy has been on my TBR list for years ever since I watched the limited show series on Prime. I love a fantasy world of vampires and witches with promises of eventual time travel. Excited for the second book! 4.5⭐️ #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

“The Art Thief” is told like a documentary, but sometimes it felt like fiction, and I had to remind myself that this is a true story! The writing was dry in places and wish it’d been told with more suspense. I’m impressed with how much research the author did! 3.5 ⭐️ #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

Does anyone else struggle with brain fog as part of illness or meds? I have trouble reading sometimes due to this. It’s physically hard to read the words on the page or mentally hard to process the meaning with audiobooks. Any tips? #booksky💙📚 #chronicillness #cancer #brainfog #books

I’m stuck in the middle of three books. Like right around 50% for each. I WANT to finish them, I like them. But none are page turners. How do you get motivated to finish a book? #booksky

“The Ghostwriter” by Julie Clark is a suspenseful mystery that spans across decades. I couldn’t tell what was the truth until the very end. Loved the twisty plot and connecting with the characters. Not too gory. Highly recommend this story and the author’s other two books! 5⭐️ #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

I am fond of writing letters, and this didn’t let me down. Loved each character, all had their own voice and writing style. What a pleasure getting to know Sybil and everyone in her life, pieces at a time, like a puzzle. Heartwarming, sad at times, but full. Hardcopy & audiobook: 5⭐️ #Booksky💙📚

Draco Malfoy & the Mortifying Ordeal of Being In Love This was my first Dramione fan fiction and WHAT A DELIGHT. Idk if I’ll read another one bc this one was perfect. Enemies to lovers. Banter. Actual science mixing with magical lore?! Beautiful artwork too. 5⭐️ #Fanfiction #Booksky💙📚

DNF. Lost interest halfway. I hate reading stories that romanticize affairs. The FMC kept trying to convince herself of things that weren’t true to how she felt. I didn’t read the whole book, but I guessed the “twist” which seemed obvious because of the timeline of the story. 2.5 ⭐️ #Booksky💙📚

Well shoot. “Just for the Summer” is a PERFECT finale of the Part of Your World trilogy, and my favorite one out of the three. My heart was thirsting for a solid (not fluffy) rom com, and this was it! Love isn’t always grand; it’s in the little every day things. 5⭐️ #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

The author is a friend, so I had to read it! Due to my own upbringing, I could empathize with some of her stories. I had a hard time following the narrative in some places, but I got the overall themes. These stories are told so other abuse survivors know they aren’t alone. 3⭐️ #Booksky💙📚

“Ruthless Vows” is a satisfying sequel and ending to “Divine Rivals.” Love, war, yearning, magic, gods, villains, and strong FMC. What more could I want? Maybe a little more letter exchanges. The typewriters are characters too! I liked the first book more but still 5⭐️ #Books #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

The story is less mystery & more found family. Slow paced. Protagonist is described by another character: “Vera is quite possibly the most vexing person he has ever met.” And SHE IS. All characters are skittish at first. I give it 3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ and would not read again. #Books #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚
“Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderer’s” by Jesse W. Sutanto.

The book is less mystery and more about found family. The pace is slower than I liked but stuck with it. The protagonist is described by another character: “Vera is quite possibly the most vexing person he has ever met.” And SHE IS. Eventually Vera finds a space that evens her out, but for a while, I was not a fan. All characters are skittish at first. I give it 3 stars and would not read again.

“Divine Rivals” got to me. I’m a sucker for letter writing and magic. The relationships moved me to the core. I knew I was going to be devastated by the end bc there is a sequel. I’m still mad about it but thrilled that I read it. Can’t wait to jump back into the story. 5🌟 #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

Magical and cozy, like hot tea. I did drink tea with this book - lemon ginger to be exact. 🫖 Lovely characters who are a myriad of fun personalities and excentricities. Includes romance (and a bit of spice), family, and why human connection is the point of living. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 #Books #Bookrecs #Booksky💙📚

4⭐️ Colin certainly has a lot of stories! Slow to start but sped up as it went. The chapter about 9/11 is especially poignant. I loved the inside scoop about SNL. Enjoyed hearing his stories in a sarcastic tone but would’ve loved more genuine insights into his life too. #books #bookrecs #booksky 💙📚

The Wedding People: 5⭐️ This story was pleasantly and refreshingly honest. I didn’t know where it was meandering, but I was along for the ride. I cared about the characters, and I related so much to the protagonist. Life is messy but sometimes in a good way. CW: dark humor, death, suicidal thoughts

Beautiful book. I was immersed and deeply moved by Austin’s path of pain and joy. I am someone with chronic illness who has navigated so many challenges from my body, Austin’s narratives about her own journey spoke to my whole self. Thank you. 5⭐️ @austinchanning.bsky.social #BookSky 💙📚 #BlackJoy
