Hi everyone, I wrote about the state of case management software in social care and local authorities. In short; it is a hard nut to crack and one that can be cracked with commitment, coordination and central goverment involvement. words.ff.studio/localgov-soc...

Gisela Stuart speaks pretty clearly about making the flow in and out of the cs much better, so hopefully even if Cab Sec is a miss there can be a more healthy inflow and outflow of skills and mentality www.youtube.com/live/Zm2cvD3...

What is clear is how closely MPs have studied this legislation. There is genuine collaboration on possible amendments, engagement with the smallest detail and deep consultation with constituents. If only it could always be like this!

Massive shout out to @jukes.ie and @debblanch44.bsky.social for running Product for the People yesterday. It felt very real-talk, open and honest. There was a good spread of "generations" in the room too. Its lovely to have a space that engenders collective sprit and has a bit of hope. A+

The whistleblower in this is heartbreaking. I’d bet on 100s similar without the courage to go public in every department. I’m not convinced finance is the main problem, a deficit of political capital and courage is. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

My very harsh joke at the time was pay/notify existed because wider senior CS were ~waves hands~ technically illiterate and CCS couldn’t negotiate for whole of government (or arrange drinks in a brewery).

I wrote and deleted a comment somewhere else, but it follows this… I think there were/are two plays that got collapsed into one. One was/is a tech and service design component problem space. The other was/is a HMT, departmentalism and CCS problem space.

And also, we *must*. My re-lived pain is nothing compared to persisting the pain of people living it. That what leadership is, it why we have a state. A monopoly of power for a greater good. So let’s keep talk about what the greater good is and if we can get there. 🙂

My broad view is ‘a legal framework and compassionate service designed process is not beyond the whit of us’. Cohorts who consent is one way forward to try and design it. Death happens, so does fraud. Thankfully are all humans. Let’s talk about it every so often and not in a panic.

My dad campaigned for diginitas, ultimately lost control of himself. We spent all his saving all while I tried to be a carer, father to 2 <5 and a business owner. There is something brutal in spending the money you hoped might pay for your children’s university.

I think weaving palliative/social care into the assisted suicide debate is nessesary, but not sufficient. To make it sufficient we need to weave a wealth tax in too. Who is affected and who is paying? This is *the* debate and one that will effect everyone.
