Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 14/09/2026Relative to the post, essentially I agree - whether a game is rough around the edges doesn't matter to me anywhere near as much as "did someone experience something when playing this enough they wanted to share that?" 000
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 14/09/2026I think a big thing that I have been taught watching other people play games more through streams and such is that there is a person out there who will tell me what there is to love about a game. I am 1000% more likely to try a game someone says they love than to avoid one people say they hate. 121
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 13/09/2026Clear, direct, no judgment, and easily digestible in terms of what matters to the people involved and why. Very well put together! 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 13/09/2026I appreciate you saying so! It took me a lot of processing to get it out of my head and heart, and I feel so, so strongly about it. I think it's even the sort of thing that nobody ever says because it seems obvious - if even one person reads this who needs to hear it matters, I consider that a win. 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 12/09/2026I was upset today and it motivated me to write my feelings down in a way they can be shared. I often speak a lot in private settings, but this felt like something I wanted to put somewhere I could reflect on it and let others see those emotions. elianorarose.com/on-softwareelianorarose.comElianora Rose - On Software 21510
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 19/08/2026Real, I frequently find myself even talking about stuff that I do and realizing too late that isn't a common thing everyone does. 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 04/08/2026I hate this so much, the call filter has never once worked for stopping me from getting genuine spam but my doctor's office calling me has been auto-blocked before and it hides the caller ID in that scenario for some god-forsaken reason so I can't tell. Learned when I went to my appointment. 110
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 30/07/2026No problem, and honestly thinking about this makes me wish I could know more! It's a fascinating thing, especially because of what you pointed out already, there isn't really a real need to do it for a lot of these folks. 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 30/07/2026Mostly because in DBD the types of social connections you're making are not likely to be as direct, you're much less likely to just get into a random conversation about any given topic mid-game, my experience is that it is much more likely if you meet someone in-game you will talk after, if at all. 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 30/07/2026DBD is a really interesting case in my mind because, unlike CS, there is a very different social dynamic. In CS the social expectation is very vocally chatty (prob too much, imo), whereas in DBD the expectation is pretty much the opposite. I'd be curious how much the answer changes based on that. 110
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 30/07/2026Whether they are remorseful or feel shame about it is kind of a dice roll, in my experience. For some it seems to be a shameful secret, for others it's like "why wouldn't I do this? it's the 'optimal' strategy at accomplishing my goals". It's kind of fascinating, really. 110
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 30/07/2026My experience talking with people like this is that they both know it is seen as unethical and that the amount of pride they place in the game as a signal to people they talk to regularly frequently hinges on needing to prove themselves somehow. Social aspect reinforces the behavior, essentially. 110
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 30/07/2026I don't know if you're looking for an actual answer here, but I have spoken with folks from Counter Strike about this a lot and I'd imagine the reasoning is similar - at some point in assigning personal value with the W it can intertwine with self-worth in a way losing is extremely anxiety-inducing. 210
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 27/07/2026Honestly it's always been wild to me how like the average trans person I know is by far the most understanding and patient person, like someone made a stereotype about us that is like the opposite of reality and people just felt more cool with that being the assumption 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 10/07/2026Many people have had to stop me and point out I actually do the math I think I don't have any comprehension of, I just don't understand the terminology and teaching method as it's so far removed from how I actually use it and think. 020
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 10/07/2026I honestly think this is a problem in the field and surrounding community even for experienced devs. I've been in the software industry for nearly two decades despite failing out of college and am a very human language thinker and run into this regularly, and it's still frustrating. 110
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 08/07/2026as someone waiting to play the game until all of it is released... yeah... 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 28/06/2026to be fair, we have oppressed all the cishet people, it's literally illegal now 110
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 23/06/2026while i no longer identify as non-binary and this specific example hasn't come up for me in a while, i am generally very uncomfortable with the sort of terms people have come up with for non-binary and trans people and that they are just comfortable ascribing onto everyone. 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 21/06/2026i definitely learned several things about tadc despite having taken a break from it for several weeks. it's such a lose/lose as someone with similar memory issues to what you're describing, either i watch and forget half of it or i don't and get spoiled. shit sucks 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 09/06/2026Bonus points if you were being gendered correctly perfectly fine for an extended period of time and then they learn you're trans and suddenly all the shes and hers disappear from their vocabulary for some mysterious reason 0150
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 31/05/2026That is definitely a thing here in the states, though whether it actually gets enforced I have no idea (at least, around where I live every ayce place has such a policy) 000
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 28/05/2026honestly the doctor thing makes me kind of resent getting a formal diagnosis at times, love having something on my chart that makes medical professionals who previously have spoken to me like an adult treat me like i'm five 020
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 08/05/2026ok so if you want to be even more evil, discord only prompts you about the safety about a website for non-discord links. there is a discord page that redirects to the video so it doesn't prompt at all. the url is discord.com/vanityurl/do... 120
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 29/03/2026I was so confused about your initial post until I read this clarification and was reminded that the youtube channel exists, should've picked it up sooner given you mentioned fnaf lol 001
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 27/03/2026It also isn't uncommon to have AI be one of your "yearly goals" that are tracked for things like merit bonuses and raises, meaning turning this stuff down is literally directly tied to getting less compensation. 010
Elianora Rose @elianorarose.com · 27/03/2026As someone who works in tech, it's not uncommon in the field right now to see literal quotas for how many tokens you're using, metric tracking for whether or not you used a given model in your work (with the implication that there will be repercussions if you say no), etc. 110
