Head count for each party determines which party controls the House/Senate. The party in charge has almost all the party. When Ned Lamont beat Joe Lieberman in the 2006 Connecticut Senate seat Dem primary, the Dem establishment supported Lieberman. They stuck it to their own voters and supported themselves. 000
