To this day, this remains my favorite academic paper title.

This is the second time she's posted against going to war. It makes me wonder about the internal convos about Iran, because between this and Rick Scott going on TV talking about how we "need" to destroy Iran because of nukes, I'm going to be watching this one closely.

Minerva actually shows up a few times in DC architecture too. Here we have "Minerva Dictating The Constitution To Young America" (a motif that apparently appears in a few places in DC), and the Minerva from the Library of Congress, her Medusa-adorned shield down to signify peace.

Yeah, so this is the intelligence.gov website as of five minutes ago when I took this screenshot. (Open it to see the whole thing.)

Giving this a read. I've been curious about alternative political systems for a while and was quite excited to see people referencing this. So far, I'm up to chapter eleven, I have a bunch of notes, and it looks like I've started a book club.

Y'all, I'm begging you, please, for the love of sweet baby cheeses, ask more questions about the fucking #50501 protest thing. I also would like to direct your consideration to the following. Look, I know we all want to do something, but we need to be careful here!

More sock making for sanity. After years of hating socks because they're irritating, I've found I actually like them when I make my own.

What a twist I wound up with a thing for redheads.

Me, pretty much whenever I read Ælfric of Eynsham on any subject. Today it was his contribution to the psychological model of soul that set me off. Tomorrow? Who knows.

This was my favorite TV show as a kid. Absolute fucking mystery how I ended up the kind of person I did.

I'm really not good at darning, but from the look of it, this pair of socks is going to give me plenty of practice. Patton's Kroy sock yarn or bust going forward, me thinks. The socks I've made with that have held up well.

A floor of frost, fair to behold but deceptive in its beauty. All is not as it appears. Ice shines like a gem, that treacherous passage. Never forget what lies underfoot, the ground you tread - take care with the crossing! Firmer footing awaits on the other side if you succeed.

Knitting for sanity over here. Making like Epictetus and reminding myself what's in my power and what is not. Also: stash busting. Pattern is Anthology Hat by Tin Can Knits.

Me: Wah, I've got nothing to knit! Also me: Oh hey, here's a nearly finished sweater I was working on!

Encountered today in an Old Norse dictionary online. A kenning for "warrior." Literal translation: "murder elf."
