This NYT piece on microdramas - and, specifically, the work of making them - is absolutely brilliant and an excellent lunchtime read: www.nytimes.com/2026/10/06/m...

Spent a few weeks earlier this year roaming a Hollywood almost entirely reoriented around “microdramas,” which are kind of like soap operas except they’re short and completely demented and optimized for your phone. Now in NYTMag. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/06/m...

Amazing reporting from Adam Iscoe in this piece on prediction market 'sharps,' who do their own political polling, stay up at all hours, and join forces to find incredibly lucrative edges on these quickly evolving platforms. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/26/m...

Related to this: Harper's has a great story by Elena Saavedra Buckley about, basically, cosplaying as a Mars astronaut. It's newsy (Elon Musk! NASA!), but doesn't foreground that. The kind of feature alt-weeklies specialized in, and how you have to hunt around to find. harpers.org/archive/2026...

I've been totally captivated by a bagpiper named Brìghde Chaimbeul for years, and I got to profile her in @newyorker.com. "The drone is the first sound," La Monte Young wrote... so true!!! www.newyorker.com/culture/pers...

For years, the public has called them "fake artists." But internally at Spotify, the program has a name: Perfect Fit Content. My investigation, and the first look into my book Mood Machine, is the January cover at @harpers.bsky.social. Online now & on newsstands next week harpers.org/archive/2025...

Cover of the january 2025 issue of Harper's magazine. A black background with the words GHOST MUSIC written largely in green, tangled with wired headphones. underneath in small text it says "INSIDE SPOTIFY'S FAKE-ARTIST SCHEME"

Once Bluesky plugs in all its new servers I'm going to rip a portal in the feed's continuum and teleport to the "hill" Jay Leno "fell down" near the Hampton Inn 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh—to see what really happened.
