Do I call Tom Cotton and thank him for not making me wake up in the dark? This is awkward.

Guys look at my new bag 😍 I went back out in the rain to get just this because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. He fit the strap length to me.

From the rain in the roof it sounds like a… messy… AotA setup. 😬. Better now than during the day I guess. Let’s go build a tent city (in the rain) 💪☔️

The followup meeting between ACPS and the city re: transportation... it's today right? Is it open to the public somewhere? Anyone know?

Elena in Alexandria @elenah.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

What a specific place for phone and internet to be out.

Sept. 14, 2026 -
Transportation Office Phone
& Internet Outage
At this time, the phone and internet service are temporarily unavailable at the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Office of Pupil Transportation and Fleet Management, so the office is unavailable to receive phone calls and emails at this time. We are currently working with our telecommunications vendor to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to restore service.

PSA although there are 5000 Del Ray things to do today, one for your list is to get to this booth at the Halloweird market and get yourself some handmade cards. Incredible work.

This is so good. Non-employer healthcare gives you freedom to start a business. Which gives you freedom to work the hours that work for your family. Bike lanes give you freedom to not drive everywhere. Removal of surveillance is both a freedom from and a freedom to (not be watched)

1. Facts 2. The fact that specificity around freeway definitions and referring to fireflies the way they do in books are what gives us away is objectively hilarious. mydialect.us/explore.html

A map showing I talk like a Californian which I am.

What gave you away
Answers that point most strongly to California.
What do you call the insect that flies around in the summer and has a rear section that glows in the dark?
firefly
What do you call the little gray creature (that looks like an insect but is actually a crustacean) that rolls up into a ball when you touch it?
pill bug
What is your *general* term for a big road that you drive relatively fast on?
a freeway is bigger than a highway
What is your generic term for a sweetened carbonated beverage?
soda

PSA. If Alexandria police want to look for a specific license plate in connection with a crime or kidnapping or whatever… they can! You don’t actually need a nationwide always on hackable database of everyone’s movements for that!

We have a heavy duty air filter inside the house and it almost never registers anything. Here’s last night’s PM2.5 readings (read fully indoors after normal HVAC filtration) in Alexandria. PM1 spiked similarly.

PM2.5 particles detected moves from excellent just before 1am up to very polluted overnight. It’s back down in the good range by early morning hours but still detected.

New voice for Better Braddock

Comment: I hope you realize that traffic will only get worse with these bike lanes. Cars will be blocked and dangerous e-bikes will be sharing the lanes, something the city of Alexandria did not evaluate in their rushed study! Do not support this corrupt city council agenda that will clog your streets too for only a couple of bikes vs the THOUSANDS of cars that travel down Braddock road every day. We shouldn't have to accommodate for LESS THAN 100 BIKERS DAILY in our already congested streets. #BikesSuck

Kevin Sanders (YDBF abuser) was sentenced to 5 years on the felony charge with all but 2 years suspended, and 12 months all suspended on the remaining 3 misdemeanors. Pretty amazing work by AWLA and the commonwealths attorney to see animal abuse actually charged and prosecuted successfully.
