Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 09/10/2026They've had official models since long before TC was a game - an earlier Kickstarter was just for minis. It's still entirely model-agnostic and they have a community license with plenty of third parties making their own - one could play TC for years without giving FFI a cent. 120
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Not sure what Trench Crusade has to do with any of the rest of that. Quite a nice community, actually. 040
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 06/10/2026But also it's not like the Heretics are without their own wizard-equivalents. Like... their capabilities seem to match everything the Empire can do even *before* you get to machine guns and bombers and an Artillery Witch lobbing explosives into the Empire's tightly-packed formations. 120

Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Many of the people saying that are holding a grudge against Trench Crusade for not being their new home after leaving 40K over the idea of lady Custodes. 041
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 25/09/2026That sucks, when the developers and community have made a point of trying to be welcoming and kick the jerks out. 130
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 21/09/2026That was a surprise attack by the Heretics in 1872, actually. Still a rough time for everyone in the area though. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 18/09/2026It was suggested a while back that a novel is on the way. In the meantime there are a couple of short stories somewhere on the website) (might have to dig through the News posts), and a couple of audio stories on their YouTube. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I wouldn't say "for even the smallest sin". Not only do we have no way to know which folks actually do go to Hell, there's a lot of focus on redemption - whether humans even *can* do anything bad enough to rule out forgiveness from YHWH if they were to genuinely repent and ask for it. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 18/09/2026The suggestion is just that *some* pagan groups have been tricked in that way, but not necessarily all of the ones following any particular god. FFI are pretty firm on not having any entire faith or culture on the Fallen side - being evil is ultimately an individual decision. 000
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Some people also struggle with not having clearly defined Good and Bad in their media. I suggested a few times on Reddit that not all of the Heretics might be bloodthirsty psychopaths and apparently that's the same as saying you support everything every Heretic does. 220
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Are the Faithful working really hard at blurring that line on any given day? Absolutely. Are there noble and possibly even kinda good people among the Heretics? Absolutely. That's a far cry from "there are no good guys" though. 020
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Yup. :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=zN4-...youtube.comGood and Evil in Trench Crusade with Tuomas Pirinen(#trenchcrusadelore #trenchcrusade #podcast)YouTube video by Feel No Paint 111
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Did you watch Tuomas' interview a while back on how they approach good and evil in the setting? Because this feels like you're deliberately misreading things FFI have said. There are objective good and bad sides here. 310
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The community Discord did have some mod problems, but that was sorted out a while back. The Kickstarter did have delays and quality issues, but everyone eventually got what they paid for and they've found other physical partners who do a better job. 020
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 17/09/2026They've never once suggested that the Christian factions (or Muslims) aren't the good guys. That's just people misunderstanding the idea that "good guys" can still be doing some awful things; a central theme of the setting is "how far is it justifiable to go?" 120
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 08/09/2026- They think he's genuinely got a shot and want to ride his coat-tails? - They have some dislike for Moloch in particular? The Hell Knight lore mentions mortal champions being raised into devilhood, so that part isn't necessarily a *new* concept for them. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 08/09/2026The devils and heretics are constantly fighting among themselves - it's one of the major reasons why they haven't made more progress in the war. If his ending becomes canon it does seem likely that at least some devils will oppose him. Certainly Moloch, if he goes for the seat of Envy. 110
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Would you believe that this season arguably gets *more* implausible? 000
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 05/09/2026As a fan who's in many of those threads, I think most conversations boil down to "if you don't like X, Y, and Z about it then it's probably not for you". A big sticking point seems to be the lack of overt humor; there's lots of absurd over-the-topness, but some folks want it more direct. 140
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 05/09/2026I honestly don't think I've ever seen or heard people ask that question even once about anything else, but for some reason it's a dealbreaker to get into TC. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I think it's absurd and whimsical all over the place, just that without blatant comedy like Orks you have to opt in to reading it that way. 020
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Over in the TC Discord I'd say it's about 95% silliness on any given day. 020
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 31/08/2026I'm sorry to say that, as cool as that is, none of it is from the Trench Crusade lore. Absolutely possible if it's just someone speculating though. 130
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 29/08/2026TC's lore has the Faithful getting along relatively well with each other, actually. Not perfectly - wouldn't be a wargame without excuses for every faction to fight everyone else - but actively helping each other a fair bit of the time. 020
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 27/08/2026In his defense, I think the guy was asking for it. 110
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 26/08/2026That's fair, but to me it's one of the selling points. Most alt-history I've seen keeps colonialism more-or-less intact, and very little tries to portray the New World cultures on equalish footing with the Old World. There's room for new ideas here. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 26/08/2026The Heretics kinda take the place of IRL colonial powers, and often have a bit of a tech edge thanks to devils like Marbas, so there's certainly room for that sort of stuff to happen. But yeah, they don't want to touch a lot of the other themes colonialist history would bring up. 110
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 22/08/2026I think all of them so far have also consistently managed to take their premise too far that it loses the Star Trekness. Time travel back to a pivotal event? Great, always fun. Oh, it's 65mya Earth? Well I guess we know *exactly* how this has to go and their moral dilemma isn't a dilemma at all. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 22/08/2026The devs and community have worked really hard to keep the chuds out, if that helps. 130
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 22/08/2026And have been promoting third-party content since forever. As far as I know from the screenshots people have shared, the takedowns were all either using trademarks or too close to TC's exact art rather than just the style. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 20/08/2026The Trench Pilgrims excuse it as "well they're not the ones holding the trigger so it's not *technically* killing yourself", but the Church and some of the more strict Processions definitely don't buy that. :) 120
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 15/08/2026IIRC from way back in the day, one reason was that bigger/smaller distributors and bigger/smaller stores get different wholesale prices to bring stuff in; a fixed retail price could wreck their margin. 100
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 09/08/2026Revolutionary? No. Relatively straightforward compared to some, in a space where many games are known for being overly complex? Yes. 000
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 09/08/2026If nothing else, "beloved figures in the industry get together for a new project a spiritual sequel to one of the classics". 100
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 08/08/2026Hear me out: Second verse almost identical to the first, except they add claps or finger snaps on the off-beats. 000
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 01/08/2026I'd go even further and argue that if there's no silly, it's not actually grimdark. Misery/horror rolling over into being comedy is part of the genre - even TC has some funny stuff if you poke around. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 30/07/2026They have a lot of zombie stuff going on too, not just literal ghosts, so a DC just be a really battered and ragged DC with chunks missing. Or a skeleton with Wolverine claws. Whirlwind of claws is fun too, though. Reminds me of Lovecraft's invisible demons who rip Abdul al-Hazred apart. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 24/07/2026I'm constantly surprised by the number of people who seem to have gone through life never experiencing any sort of significant delay for anything and are personally offended when it finally happens to them. 050
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 17/07/2026I'm not a big fan of the style for most of TC's Hell and Grail stuff, but this looks lovely. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 14/07/2026I may have had to start blocking people when the discussion turned to Why It's Tactically Optimal To Have Your Models Skip Their Turn. 000
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 10/07/2026The map is far from being a complete picture though. - The Heretic Navy and Path of the Beast can be anywhere. - An army from the Hellmouth of the North almost captured Vilnius a few years ago. - Temples of the Fly can pop up all over the place. A lot of places are probably normal-for-wartime. 020
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 10/07/2026We haven't directly seen any failures of either yet, *but* the Trench Pilgrims specifically use stolen or "acquired" Meta-Christ flesh to make their Communicants and the success rate is... not good. They tend to come out with problems of various sorts. 010
Electrokiwimonkey @electrokiwimonkey.bsky.social · 29/06/2026An amazing number of people never learn the difference between "Whatever you like" in a dismissive, "figure it out like I did" way vs. "There are no rules, but are some ideas and questions to guide your choice". Kudos to the employee. 030
